In March 2013, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) registered 48,000 Syrian refugees, bringing the number of refugees registered and awaiting registration with the Office to just under 400,000. However, the Lebanese Government estimates that approximately one million Syrians are seeking refuge in the country. Palestinian refugees from Syria living in Lebanon are one of the most vulnerable sub-populations affected by the crisis. In April 2013, ANERA conducted a survey of these families to gain a clear picture of the situation on the ground and to assess the critical needs that exist. The continuing unrest in Syria is resulting in a growing influx of Syrian refugees to Lebanon. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has registered over 57,000 Syrian refugees in Lebanon (September 7, 2012) while many refugees are awaiting registration.

This report was prepared by ANND in cooperation with its member from 10 Arab countries. It is considered a result of the new direction that was followed after the revolution outbreak in the region. It is the first report of the Arab Watch for social and economic rights.
