In May 2014 the Lebanese authorities put in place new requirements for Palestinian refugees from Syria trying to enter Lebanon. Many of the conditions are very difficult to meet and have the effect of denying people fleeing conflict the possibility of seeking safety in Lebanon. This briefing details the restrictions facing Palestinian refugees from Syria who try to enter or stay in Lebanon, as far as these are known. It describes some of the implications for refugees and includes the accounts of several Palestinian refugees from Syria who have been directly affected.

The Mid-way Transition House (Al Dar) is a free, safe, supportive temporary house for women at risk or survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV), both single women and teen adolescent girls, and women with their children. Palestinian refugees from Syria living in Lebanon are one of the most vulnerable sub-populations affected by the crisis. In April 2013, ANERA conducted a survey of these families to gain a clear picture of the situation on the ground and to assess the critical needs that exist. The findings are shocking and the situation is getting worse, day by day. 

Palestinian refugees in Syria have attempted to remain neutral in the civil conflict, which began in March 2011, but they have increasingly been pulled into and affected by the conflict. Palestinian refugees entering Lebanon from Syria have particular needs and vulnerabilities vis-à-vis the general Syrian refugee population.
