This policy brief was developed as a deliverable in the project “Fair Game: Theatre of the Oppressed for Youth Empowerment” funded by the European Union. It tackles the topic of bullying in schools and offers recommendations drawn from the field experience in Lebanon that focused on the methodology of Legislative Theatre to raise awareness on bullying in schools and advocate for better policies.

Terre des hommes foundation has been present in Lebanon since 1977. We provide life saving child protection assistance to the most vulnerable children and their families regardless of their nationality, ethnic origin and religious affiliation. Through our child protection in migration and access to justice programmes, our staff support victims of physical and sexual abuse, worst forms of child labor, child marriage, severe neglect and children in contact or conflict with the law. The State of Humanitarian Professions 2020 (SOHP) is the result of a year-long consultation with more than 1,500 humanitarian professionals. For the first time, this study gathers and analyses key figures on 24 humanitarian professions, as well as on recruitment practices and professional development in the sector. In addition, the SOHP study demonstrates the need to coordinate on the challenges of professionalising humanitarian teams, with 19 recommendations to be discovered in the final report.

This report provides an analysis of the history and current situation of the conflict context, actors and dynamics in Beirut, Lebanon. The report seeks to shed light on the main actors, topics of contestation, conflict and mobilisation in its historical becoming as well as current expressions. The report includes a special focus on the social question, subsequent political and social mobilisation, gender issues, the securitisation of the city, as well as the interactions between the Lebanese host community and Syrian refugees and their unfolding within the last four years (since 2011).
