The LFPADE in partnership with Ricerca e Cooperazionne (RC) an Italian NGO working in Lebanon, are currently implementing the project: Enhanced Socio-economic status of women in South Lebanon under AFKAR III project financed by the European Union and managed by the Minister of State for Administrative Reform. The LFPADE & RC are looking for a consultant to conduct an assessment of the Kawkaba Women cooperative. The Deadline for Submission of Proposals: December 10, 2016 by 18:00 Manner of submission: Electronic submission Email: info@lfpa.org.lb Language of the proposal: English Proposal Validity Period: One month Proposal Currency: USD Expected Start Date: Immediately after signing of the Contact Expected Places of Travel: Hasbaya region / Kawkaba BACKGROUND Lebanon Family Planning Association for Development & Family Empowerment (LFPADE); is a Lebanese NGO that has been working in Lebanon since 1969 to enhance the wellbeing of all the family members and especially to empower women to improve their status within their families, communities and at the national level. The LFPADE in partnership with Ricerca e Cooperazionne (RC) an Italian NGO working in Lebanon, are currently implementing the project: Enhanced Socio-economic status of women in South Lebanon under AFKAR III project financed by the European Union and managed by the Minister of State for Administrative Reform The goal of the project is: Strengthened socio-economic status of women in the marginalized regions of South Lebanon through economic empowerment. The specific objectives are: Enhanced capacity building of 180 women entrepreneurs in South Lebanon by end of project. Strengthened the institutional capacity of Kawkaba Women Cooperative. The first activity planned to achieve the second objective is to conduct an assessment of the Kawkaba Women cooperative to identify its needs and then based on the findings of the assessment a program to build the capacity of the women members of the board and members of the cooperative in order to institutionalize the cooperative and empower it will be defined. Thus, The LFPADE in partnership with Ricerca e Cooperazionne (RC) are looking for an experienced and qualified consulting firm and/or individuals that will undertake this assessment. OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSEMENT The main objective of the assessment is to analyze the current situation of the existing Kawkaba Women Cooperative, its strengths & weaknesses & needs and to define a road map to build its capacity as a sustainable institution. TERMS OF REFERENCE Assessing the current situation of cooperative in Kawkaba in terms of historical development, existing obstacles and challenges. Mapping the existing women cooperatives in Hasbaya Region Analyzing the existing rules and regulations regarding cooperatives in Lebanon Analyzing needs and gap for the development of women cooperatives in Hasbaya Region DELIVERABLES The consultant is expected to deliver the following A Final report detailing the results of the analysis and recommendations for training & capacity building as well Consultant(s) Profile The Consultant(s) should possess the following skills and expertise: Master’s degree or higher in social science or related subject; Knowledge on data collection and analysis techniques using the various statistical packages-advanced excel, SPSS etc.; Knowledge of issues concerning Cooperatives At least five years of proven experience in conducting baseline survey/ research/data collection and analysis; Familiarity with the relevant context of Lebanon ; Excellent communication skills.
