Focus Group Research – Municipal Elections 2016

Background Upcoming municipal elections should take place in May 2016, yet LADE is preparing itself to confront a possible extension of the mandate of the local elected bodies as the parliament extended its mandate twice and so far no President is elected, for that purpose LADE began a campaign called “al Baladiyeh Nos el Balad” that highlights the importance of the municipal work and of having municipal elections on time. LADE also conducted a national opinion poll where it measured several quantified indicators and now is intending to do more in depth qualitative research to complement its work. Objectives: -Identify the right messages that could reach the Lebanese citizens (Electors and Youth), messages that reflect the need to have municipal elections on time in May 2016. -Identify if different messages should be used between youth and the older citizens or not. -Define the importance of having a municipal council for the Lebanese citizens. -Measure if the sample have heard of the municipal campaign called “al Baladiyeh Nos el Balad” and if yes what do they think about it. Profile: -12 focus groups can be done with Electors (Lebanese youth 21 and above) in the villages where the municipal councils are dissolved, from different regions, religions and age groups. -6 focus groups for the university students (18 and above) from 6 different universities. Timeframe: Monday 11th of January 2016:selection of the company. January 11th until January 15th 2016: elaboration and finalization of the discussion guide. Half January – Half February 2016: conduction of the 12 focus groups. End of February 2016: Finalizing the report.
