Protection Manager (National Contract)

  Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified candidate who has the skills to join DRC Lebanon as a Protection Manager in the South, for a temporary employment, covering an employee's absence during maternity leave. About the job The Protection Manager (PM) has the overall responsibility for leading, coordinating and overseeing DRC Protection activities in the South. Your main duties and responsibilities will be: • Recruit, train and supervise protection staff; • Support protection staff through the provision of supervision and guidance. Ensure that staff implement and respect best-practice and international standards in protection, GBV and child protection; • Ensure the implementation of protection programming and protection-related grants, including appropriate and timely spending of grants to achieve program goals, grants reporting contributions, use and distribution of supplies and resources; • Understand and follow up on activities and assess progress of implementation, provide solutions and report issues when needed; • In collaboration with the Protection Coordinator, provide technical support, supervision and guidance to the protection team; • Identify technical gaps in the program and identify/implement solutions to meet these gaps; • Actively participate in field-working groups (GBV, CP, PWG, etc); • Work closely with other DRC sectors (incl. CSMC, Shelter, Livelihoods and Community Empowerment) to ensure that Protection is adequately addressed across sectors and humanitarian interventions; • Oversee and ensure achievements of targets towards donors’ requirements through overall management of the protection programming (through the use of indicators performance trackers); • Ensure that the Protection assistance programme is compliant with DRC accountability principles. About you To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 3 years of proven experience in implementation of protection programming; human rights and/or advocacy work. Moreover, we also expect the following: Required Qualifications • Thorough understanding of best practices and strategies in protection programming (protection monitoring, GBV, Child protection) • Proven experience in community mobilization; • Proven experience working in emergency settings • Strong program/technical and budget management skills • Ability to organize and facilitate capacity-building initiatives, including trainings for colleagues and partners • Familiarity with community-based protection programming and ability to incorporate lessons learned from similar experiences; • Experience in implementing projects through local partners and providing direct technical support to local organizations • University degree or higher education relevant to human rights, law or other relevant fields Desirable • Strong written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with external parties. • Above average computer literacy (incl. Excel), and holder of a valid driver’s license • Previous experience implementing emergency programs for UNICEF/UNHCR; In this position, you are expected to demonstrate DRC’ five core competencies: Striving for excellence: You focus on reaching results while ensuring an efficient process.
