Arabic Didactics And Pedagogy Consultant

Summary International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland is the official humanitarian relief agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America.  Since its inception in 1992, IOCC has delivered $488 million in relief and development programs to families and communities in more than 50 countries.  International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) is currently implementing a WFP-funded School Nutrition Program in Public Schools in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE). Therefore, IOCC is looking at developing a comprehensive school nutrition education intervention targeting children and parents in schools. In an attempt to ensure a robust process for the review of materials, IOCC is looking for a highly qualified and self-motivated Arabic didactics and pedagogy consultant to take charge of this assignment.  Responsibilities and essential Functions 1. He/She will be engaged in: Reviewing information, education and communication (IEC) material related to the School Nutrition Education Arabic Curriculum:   Task 1: Conduct a review of existing nutrition educational material and programs for public schools. This review will provide an overview on the pedagogical gaps related to nutrition education in schools. The output of this task is the production of a revised curriculum in compliance with class, age and development stage of students.   The content should be reviewed and drafted in close collaboration with MEHE, WFP and IOCC staff.   Testing the appropriateness, validity and relevance of the School Nutrition Education Arabic Curriculum  Task 2: the consultant will ensure that the material or concept is tested prior to development or finalization. Testing can be in the form of focus group meetings, live testing with children or parents etc. He/she will conduct regular testing through a dynamic process moving back and forth between development and testing until a final product is reached.  Task 3:  the consultant will also be in charge of providing on-the-job support and mentoring on the delivery of the intervention.  Task 4: the consultant will conduct a qualitative evaluation of the implemented intervention, with highlighting the main outcomes and outputs of the intervention. The output of this task is an evaluation report that includes findings from this evaluation.    2. Pedagogical skills The consultant should have good knowledge of learning and teaching methodologies and education system. He/she should have a prior experience in developing lesson plans and school-based programs/books.   3. Communication and reporting  The consultant will directly report to the School Nutrition Project Manager He/she will liaise, when necessary, with project staff including educators and school advisors   4. Qualifications Fluent in Arabic Strong communication and interpersonal skills Good organization skills Meticulous  Problem-solving skills Self-motivated, initiative-taker
