Dialogue Facilitation Trainer

Search For Common Ground works to transform the way the world deals with conflict, away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. With over 35 years of experience in conflict transformation worldwide, Search has worked in Lebanon since 1996. We address conflicts arising within Lebanon’s diverse society, seeking to engage all stakeholders to create sustainable peace.         I.            Background   The Wadi Khaled area, located in the northeast of Lebanon’s Akkar governorate, has historically been neglected by the Lebanese state, with communities there only receiving citizenship in 1994.Local government structures have only been institutionalized in the last ten years, and the residents of this area remain politically and economically marginalized in Lebanon. The Wadi Khaled area still requires considerable support to undertake the substantial development initiatives that the area needs to boost its economy, improve its governance systems and provide more inclusive and participatory responses to the local needs. In response to the challenges present in the context of Wadi Khaled, Search is implementing a peace building and stabilization project “Diwan” funded by the Canadian department for trade and Development. Diwan seeks to ensure local decision-making processes are more inclusive and participatory in order to ensure that development is more sustainable, equitable and accountable .The project is expected to run for a period of 24 months, from February 2017 to January 2019.         II.            Training Objectives A core part of the Diwan project approach is conflict transformation trainings and coaching sessions on topics such as non-violent communication and Dialogue Facilitation.
