“Youth for Tomorrow” Project, implemented by Nabad with support from Mercy Corps (MC), focuses on helping host and refugee community adolescents, in targeted areas in Mount lebanon. to cope with numerous stresses. The decisions they make now will have a profound long-term impact on their lives; thus it is essential to equip adolescents with the tools to make sound judgment in order to have a healthy and productive future. “Youth for tomorrow” aims to achieve the following:
Adolescents and youth have improved psychosocial and emotional wellbeing.
Adolescents and youth are better prepared to enter the workforce with enhanced technical skills and improved awareness of labour market realities
Diverse groups build positive inter-community relationships by working together to promote protection and interests of adolescents and youth.
Civil Society has increased capacity to serve the needs of youth.
The role of the Nabad Youth for Tomorrow Livelihood and Outreach Officer is mainly to:
Management responsibilities
- Ensure proper implementation of the program livelihood component in the field, focusing on program quality and innovative approach.
- Handle the daily follow up on the program livelihood activities in the field, ensuring the technical aspects of the project are running in accordance with the project’s objectives and strategies.
- Support in conducting the youth led market assessments in her/his area of responsibility, and determining program intervention priorities based on needs and existing resources, with support from the MC program team.
- Support in the Youth led market assessment coaches training, awareness sessions.
- Lead the recruitment and formation of a youth council to conduct the market assessment.
- Support in the identification of partners and linkages (businesses, private sector, NGOs, and local government partners) to support youth livelihood- related interventions.
- Prepare monthly progress report and other relevant documents to be sent to the program Livelihood Lead.
- Ensure proper project documentation, as per MC standards.
- Facilitate the work of MC consultants and service providers developing appropriate methodologies to build the business and entrepreneurship skills of the youth.
- Conduct visits and outreach to employers, beneficiaries, NGOs, UN, vocational training providers and microfinance and business support services in his area to explain the role of the Youth for Tomorrow Center and its services, to obtain job vacancies and refer jobseekers.
- Help in the mapping of potential employment opportunity, education and training provider, and business support providers in his area of responsibility.
- Help in organizing field trips, job shadowing, networking events, and speakers identification.
- Support in the setup of an entrepreneurship club in the youth for Tomorrow Center. Lead the recruitment of youth into the club.
- Recruit local business leaders, staff and local business providers to participate and mentor business and entrepreneurship club participants.
- Help in the organization of local business fairs.
- Support the youth in the development of their mock business ideas.
- Any other task required for program purposes
Qualifications & Experience
Holds a minimum of a University degree in social sciences, business development, or other related field
Has experience working in child protection, livelihood programs, youth programs and/or education programs
Has managerial experience of a team of people
Has experience leading or conducting market or situational assessments (preferred)
Possesses strong organizational skills
Has a strong understanding of the community and has established working relations with local CBOs, community leaders, and municipality preferable.
Has at minimum 2-4 years of experience working with an NGO and in the protection or livelihood field (preferred)
Fair, honest, with strong communication skills, and results-oriented.
Responsible, mature, and diplomatic.
Likes to coach and demonstrates full-time commitment.
Is self-initiated and a team player.
Has good skills in planning and management and is able to work under pressure.
Is able to manage time and handle multiple tasks concurrently within the deadlines.
Has good communication skills in Arabic and strong working knowledge in English (both orally and written).
Has good documentation and writing skills.
Is familiar with computers and using social networking sites and websites.
Is skilled in mediation or has the willingness to learn such skills and in dealing with allied agencies for referrals and negotiating with members of the community.
Has the ability to build strong professional relationships.
Must be trusted and respected by others.

Mercy Corps has joined the No Lost Generation campaign to mitigate the devastating impact of the Syria crisis on children and young people for Lebanese, Palestinian and Syrian in host and refugee communities. In order to prevent alarming long-term consequences of an entire generation, Mercy Corps’ programming aims to nurture the intellectual and emotional growth of adolescents during this pivotal time in their life to become resilient to the deteriorating economic and political conditions around them.
