Pr & Communication Officer

    Communication and PR Officer GIZ Office Beirut               A.   Required qualifications, competences and experience Qualifications University Degree in Communication/PR or comparable field and training Professional experience Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the field of communication (media and PR work, journalism, internal communication, corporate policies and designs, or similar) experience in project and/or event management editorial experience, experience in writing articles and press releases (evidenced e.g. by work samples) Other knowledge, additional competences ability to express oneself well both verbally and in writing; polished, target-group oriented style experience with media production knowledge of DTP, Desktop publishing  or graphics applications very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office) Fluent in English/Arabic language, written and spoken, good knowledge of German Language is an asset. Knowledge in corporate policies and strategies good team player self-learning capacity conscientiousness/reliability/attentiveness dedication/commitment   B.   Responsibilities Responsibilities   GIZ Internal communications Support the Cluster Coordinator in developing and supporting the appropriate communication instruments (e.g. emails, internal newsletters, internal events) consults with the Corporate Communications Unit on articles for the GIZ staff newsletter ‘intern’ and GIZ News on the intranet, and provides editorial input on practical examples and other texts for GIZ media advises local staff on the regulations and contacts for PR in the interests of a uniform GIZ image support the Cluster Coordinator in identifying, creating and assuring the quality of pools of service providers (text, printers, graphic designers, proof readers, lithography etc.) implementing standards and guidelines for GIZ communication work described in the “Recommendations for communication by GIZ Offices” maintaining an updated data management in accordance with GIZ rules and regulation and the communication policy (updated country data files, electronically and in paper) Quality check of articles from projects or programmes (e.g. publications, press conferences, the internet etc.) further) developing the concept for communicating country-related information both within and outside of GIZ, systematic planning and management of communication activities National media work coordinates media activities in the country (possibly also project/programme activities) as per the GIZ Rules and Regulations and Communication Policy in close coordination with the Cluster Coordinator establishes and maintains contact with national media, in particular setting up and running a national media distributor creates and updates a national media file as per the GIZ corporate and communication policy writes and sends out press releases in close coordination with the Cluster Coordinator compiles information materials for the media (basic material and for specific occasions) and distributes these systematically in line with the target group’s needs organises national media events and tours in line with GIZ corporate and communication policy and in close coordination with the Cluster Coordinator monitors the media (documentation and analysis of media reports on GIZ) coordinates cooperation with external communication service providers (e.g. appraisers, agencies, photographers, trainers, copywriters)  in close coordination with the Cluster Coordinator   National PR work (further) develops suitable communication instruments (e.g. country brochures, fact sheets, advertising material, PowerPoint presentations on GIZ based on the corporate presentation, newsletters, information sheets for the country portfolio manages the necessary coordination processes and the production of publications and materials in accordance with GIZ standards (corporate design, standards for content) organises events supports foreign delegations and VIP visits provides editorial support to the GIZ office’s website, coordinates and advises on the online presentations of projects and programmes keeps a full and up to date PR materials lists for all projects in Lebanon and assuring availability of such material for all external and internal events of GIZ (meetings, workshops, seminars, fairs, official visits, and journalists visit, etc.) represents GIZ work in public, handling GIZ booths in fairs, events, exhibitions, etc
