Mentorship Officer

Akkar Network for Development -AND- “Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Lebanese and Syrian underprivileged youth in Akkar” Terms of Reference     Position Mentorship Officer   Project Overview Akkar Network for Development (AND) has been working in Akkar for more than 5 years with women, youth and local authorities to promote the well-being of the community. In addition to other interventions in the area, AND is currently working on youth empowerment and inclusion in the public sphere, especially in the most deprived areas of Akkar by relying mainly on extra-curricular activities, initiating youth dialogue with local authorities, along with skills building. In partnership with UNICEF, AND is planning to establish the innovation labs in Akkar to support Akkar youth, combining creativity, innovation, learning, mentorship, and exposure to new technology. The trainings of the innovation labs shall help youth broaden their horizons, develop their entrepreneurial skills, and potentially, open up new opportunities, thus improving their livelihoods. Areas of Responsibility: Mentorship Officers This position entails responsibility for the mentorship component of the project. The mentorship officer, shall, with the help of the management team, establish the needed guidelines and related documents for this component, and ensure its implementation according to established best practices in the mentoring field. This includes the identification and selection of potential mentors, drafting the mentorship agreements, organizing and/or attending mentorship trainings, mentorship sessions and/or mentorship events. The Mentorship officer is required to meet the mentorship component goals and targets, thus supporting the overall project, while keeping AND informed of current research and information relevant to youth mentorship, livelihoods and inclusion. More specifically, he/she will be requested to provide the following:   Identify, reach out and establish connections with relevant professional and/or academic institutions in Akkar Identify, reach out and select potential mentors for youth in Akkar Develop talking points and relevant literature on mentorship component Develop all needed guidelines and relevant documents for establishing and implementing youth mentorship component Work closely with project’s partners in terms of content creation of the mentorship component Organize all logistical details of the mentorship sessions and events Attend all mentorship sessions and assist mentors when needed Facilitate the relation between mentors and mentees Act as a resource and guide for mentees, and occasionally for mentors Serve as an example/role model for mentees Work closely with management team, donor’s team and relevant stakeholders to develop, enhance and implement the different aspects of the mentorship component. Respect the mentee’s right to self-determination and independence, while supporting their personal growth Assist the mentees in setting realistic, attainable goals, and facilitating their access to needed resources. Provide regular feedback on progress of the youth mentorship component Manage evaluation data collection; Compile monthly data into reports (including quantitative and qualitative analysis) Facilitate the creation of business hub/incubator environment. The Mentorship Officer is required to possess the following skills Capacity to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team Ability to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situation within a mission or the organization itself; Well organized, with a positive attitude to encourage the mentees and facilitate the mentorship relations between mentors and mentees  Hard worker; with a demonstrated capacity to create networking connections with business owners, professional bodies, and academic institutions Able to manage stress and pressure; and prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to details Field locations in Akkar Governate; Dreib EL Aala (Wadi Khaled + Akroum+Mashta Hammoud) & Jurd El Kayteah areas Level of Effort The Mentorship officer shall have the following number of month allocated for this task:   Task LOE Mentorship officer 5 months TOTAL 5 months   Reporting The mentorship officer shall report to the project manager.
