Legal Expert

Participate in the development of drafting annual action plan and update result matrix for the IHL Resource Desk together with the team. Participate in the development of research plan.  Conceptualize and provide legal analysis on Internal Humanitarian Law (IHL)/Internal Human Rights Law (IHRL) and related international law Conduct legal research, writing and analysis for legal briefs, reports, fact sheets and other writings.  Prepare and present legal briefings and presentations to IHL Resource Desk target groups.  Develop and conduct IHL/IHRL trainings, particularly mainstreaming IHL and related law into programming for humanitarian and development actors and donors.  Participate in internal peer review of legal analysis and writings. Work together with Senior Legal Expert/IHL Resource Desk Manager and team on advocacy and outreach to strategic partners.  Provide legal advice and respond to help desk requests.  Participate and represent the IHL Resource Desk in relevant forums and meet with stakeholders for consultation.  Participate and engage in stakeholder analysis together with the IHL Resource Desk team. Engage in assessment of selected strategic partners’ capacity and needs related to IHL/IHRL and provide capacity development for the same.  Contribute to the development of the IHL Resource Desk strategic priorities by working with the team and strategic partners to identify thematic priorities in IHL Resource Desk’s work.  Support gender mainstreaming in the organization and contribute to a more equal society through gender conscious behaviours, role modelling, and openness towards capacity development.  Assist the Senior Legal Expert/IHL Resource Desk Manager in other tasks where required
