Community Nutrition (Internship)

Action Against Hunger, an International Non-Governmental Organization operating in Lebanon since 2006, is looking for talented nutrition interns to join the nutrition team for a period of two months to support nutrition programming initiatives in Hermal and Baalbak. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the overall guidance of the Nutrition Field Supervisor, the intern will report to the Nutrition Field officers during the period of this internship. The intern will be subject to special induction training and will assume the following roles and responsibilities: Support the Nutrition Field Officer in preparing and implementing activities related to nutrition behavior change communication to raise awareness and influence care practices of pregnant and lactating women. Develop and lead activities for children under two years of age who usually accompany their mothers in sessions. Support referral of suspected cases of severe and moderate malnutrition to relevant primary healthcare centers in the area. Support the Nutrition Field Officer in preparing and implementing activities related to food hygiene, food preservation, and culinary demonstration sessions to the targeted communities. Support the identification, training, and follow-up of community focal points on different care practices topics.  REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Student or fresh graduate in Nutrition currently studying, or recently graduated, from an accredited university program by Lebanese higher education authorities. Preference will be given to specialization in community nutrition. Excellent knowledge of infant and young child feeding, and behaviour change communication. Excellent organization skills. Highly creative, innovative, and personally driven to work with communities. Volunteer experience in humanitarian organization is a plus. Good communication skills (verbal and written), especially communication for low-resource settings. Good analytical skills
