Operations Assistant (Airport Team Leader)

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office, direct supervision of the  Operations Officer, and in close coordination with Senior Operations Assistants, the successful candidate is responsible for the efficient and effective facilitation of refugee and migrant movements at Beirut International Airport and to lead the team of airport assistants.   1. Plan and organize departures and arrivals from/to Beirut International airport, and ensure the efficient and correct provision of airport assistance to all refugees and migrants travelling to/from Beirut. 2. Assist the Operations Officer monitor the team of airport assistants and on-call airport staff and ensure the efficient planning of staff resources. 3. Coordinate and liaise with partners at the airport, incl. General Security, airlines and station managers, and handling agents, on all movements under IOM auspices, to ensure a smooth and efficient process at the airport and act as first focal point to partners for all IOM assisted movements. 4. Train airport assistants and on-call airport staff in all aspects of airport assistance and ensure they remain updated on new procedures, program requirements and other developments. 5. Assist refugees and migrants travelling under auspices of IOM with departure procedures at the airport, incl. check-in processes, immigration formalities and boarding procedures.  6. Verify travel documents and refugees’ and migrants’ identities prior to check-in 7. Attend to any special needs for refugees and other migrants, including medical cases and unaccompanied minors and provide meals or other arrangements when necessary. 8. Respond to any unforeseen delays, cancellations, or other issues and ensure refugees and migrants are assisted appropriately, and coordinate any unforeseen situations with the Sr. Operations Officer and Operations Department. 9. Provide airport arrival assistance to returnees travelling under AVRR programs and assist with onward transportation as required. 10. Prepare the weekly airport schedule and assist coordinating staffing needs. 11. Prepare reports and statistical information on assisted movements as required. 12. Ensure IOM bags, pink cards and luggage tags are prepared and departure arrangements for refugees including signing of Promissory Notes and Warrants completed. 13.  Assist pre-departure arrangements at the IOM office/staging area for charter movements as needed. 14. Participate in discussions on procedures and practices to improve the efficiency of process delivery. 15. Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
