Executive Director

POSITION: Executive Director Lebanese Transparency Association LTA, Lebanon chapter of Transparency International, TI, seeks a new Executive Director to lead the day to day operations of LTA.  The ED must have proven leadership skills and a commitment to LTA’s vision. The ideal candidate will have the energy and ability to tackle a wide range of critical tasks, from conceiving creative advocacy campaigns, to drafting policy proposals, to engaging donors – and above all, working closely and enthusiastically with LTA’s highly motivated staff, interns, and volunteers. All candidates should have strong capacity to motivate themselves and others, take initiative on a variety of projects, and manage time well. Role description The Executive Director is the key management leader of Lebanese Transparency Association –LTA. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and LTA strategic plan application, fundraising, marketing, and community outreach.  3. Key responsibilities 1. Board Governance: Works with board in order to fulfill the organization mission. Responsible for leading LTA in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors. Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions. 2. Financial Performance and Viability:  Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization. Responsible for the integrity of LTA, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization. Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position. Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support LTA’s mission. 3.   Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach. Responsible for implementation of LTA’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission. Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that LTA can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future. Responsible for the enhancement of LTA’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations. 4.    Organization Operations:  Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate. Responsible effective administration of LTA operations. Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff. Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization. Evaluate annually the performance of the staff of the organization in achieving LTA’s  mission Ensure that structures and procedures are in place for securing the resources required by the organization – personally contribute to developing proposals in needed Manage relations with external stakeholders (e.g. donors, beneficiaries, government, TI, other NGOs, etc. ) Assign tasks and delegate among staff to make the best use of human resources in fulfilling programs and meeting targets. Ensure that all activities and programs of LTA are managed properly and in line with LTA’s policies, procedures, and internal rules and regulations Ensure that opportunities for grant aid for LTA are optimized and work with the proposal development team to develop proposals to ensure continuous funding Follow-up on the project implementation and ensure that all projects are implemented according to agreed standard Oversee all day-to-day operations of LTA and its employees Oversee work of Departments/programs and monitor activities 4. Requirements for position Key competencies Transparent and high integrity leadership Fluent in Arabic and English (Oral and written) Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, basic software applications and familiarity with the internet and email communications Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation Very good interpersonal oral and written communication skills High motivation, networking skills, and conflict management skills Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff Strong public speaking ability Educational qualifications/ experience  A Bachelor’s degree in social science, business administration or related discipline, Master’s degree is a plus Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience with minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior position Strong track record of past performance in positions of leadership with ability to motivate and generate respect and trust from staff and external stakeholders   TO APPLY Please send by not later than September 15, 2017 a cover letter, resume, and writing sample (light or no editing, substantially your own work) to  HR@transparency-lebanon.org Please reference “Executive Director” in the subject of the email.
