General context of the project   General context of the project Following the conflict in the Syrian Arab Republic and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation which is negatively affecting also the neighbouring countries, since 2012 INTERSOS has resumed the operations in the Middle East to contribute towards ensuring emergency relief and social protection assistance for the Syrian refugees fleeing their home in search of safety, with special focus on most vulnerable groups (children, women, elderly and persons with special needs). In Lebanon, INTERSOS operates through interventions in the areas of protection, livelihoods, education, food-security, WASH and shelter, in order to support the population affected by the conflict, adopting a Community approach and collaborating more and more with NGOs, associations and local institutions, in order to promote social cohesion between the refugee population and the host population. This approach will be adopted through the complementarity of actions in the Nabatieh Governorate, in the district of Hasbaya, where INTERSOS implements prevention and response activities for violence against vulnerable people, particularly women and children, through the engagement in school rehabilitation and the promotion of NFE programmes funded by AICS. INTERSOS applies a multi-sectoral and holistic approach which aims to provide extremely vulnerable families with a comprehensive package of services, ranging from psychosocial support activities and informal education opportunities to cash assistance.   B. General purpose of the position, responsibilities and tasks General purpose of the position To ensure technical inputs, guidance and support to the NFE component of INTERSOS programme. Main responsibilities and tasks The Education Expert is in charge of the support to NFE activities and services, ensuring timely and quality implementation in compliance with MEHE directives, relevant Standard Operating Procedures, INEE Minimum Standards, Good Practices in Education in Emergency Responses, International Principles and Guidelines, INTERSOS Fundamental Charter and Code of Ethics.   Main responsibilities: Developing contents and methodologies to be adopted for the implementation of NFE activities; Developing a training course for volunteers on enhanced education response capacity and service provision according to international standards and principles; Guaranteeing compliance to MEHE standards on NFE in the implementation of training courses; Provide inputs, guidance and support to ensure the quality implementation of the education projects’ activities from the technical point of view; Building the capacity, coordinating and supervising the education staffs and volunteers, providing ad hoc training sessions; Supporting social workers in training activities; Supporting the implementation of homework support sessions for Hasbaya children; Supporting the implementation of remedial classes for children excluded from any kind of schooling in Hasbaya; Promoting transition to certified educational pathways; In cooperation with the Project Coordinator and the Human Resources Unit, carry out the identification and selection of the volunteers, as required Collaborate with the social worker to set up a work plan for the implementation of the activities related to i) the organization of a training for volunteers on tools and methodologies to be adopted to conduct non-formal education activities and ii) the organization of non-formal education activities in the field;  Conceive a manual to be used for the training of volunteers on non-formal education activities;  Conceive a manual to be used by the volunteers for the implementation of non-formal education activities in the field; Capacitate the social worker on the conduction of a training for volunteers on non-formal education activities and their follow-up in the field;  Evaluate the quality of the non-formal educational activities conducted by the social worker and volunteers;  Provide the social worker with tools to verify the qualitative implementation of NFE activities;  Conduct a mapping of local and international NGO working in the South and Nabatieh regions, covering areas of interventions, programs implemented and tools adopted;  Participate in sectorial working group;  Maintain relations with donors and stakeholders on the specific sector of intervention; Contribute to the analysis of on educational initiatives in Lebanon to provide technical feedback for new project proposal; Provide a final report with lessons learnt and best practices.     3. Position requirements   Education  •          University degree in relevant subject or equivalent professional / technical qualification Postgraduate degree (MA) in Education, and/or professional experience in Education in humanitarian crisis context an asset   Professional competencies Ideally at least 3 years of professional experience. A minimum of 2 years of NGO experience in relevant field A minimum of 2 years of experience in Education programs in Lebanon. Proven knowledge of Education in Emergency (EiE) standards and guidelines Proven knowledge of INEE tools. Proven knowledge of MEHE procedures and strategy Proven knowledge of MEHE adopted school curricula Proven knowledge of NFE, and of transitioning to formal pathways Knowledge of the region and previous experiences in humanitarian programs in response to the Syrian crisis is an asset Strong theoretical, technical and practical background in Education programmes   Previous line management experience; - Proficient in MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, outlook etc.).   Behavioural competencies Able to work in team and to integrate within multi-ethnic and multicultural teams; Excellent diplomatic communication and organizational skills Very good Interpersonal Skills. Strong analytical thinking and practical problem-solving skills. Strong supervisory skills, and demonstrates capacity of teamwork and of coordination with the relevant parties. Ability to organize work efficiently and deliver assignments in a timely manner High integrity High flexibility with the ability to create solutions to operational problems Leadership skills Experience and ability to train others, facilitate workshops and transfer knowledge Resources management to optimize results   Languages Fluency in spoken and written Arabic  and English
