Under the supervision of the General Manager, the (Chief Accountant – Financial Manager) performs a variety of specialized tasks in finance and accounting functions. S/He oversees general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. His /Her responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. S/He combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
Major Responsibilities:
Verifies, allocates, posts and reconciles accounts payable and receivable.
Produces error-free accounting reports and presents their results.
Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
Analyzes financial information and summarizes financial status.
Spots errors and suggests ways to improve efficiency and spending.
Reviews and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
Manages accounting assistants and bookkeepers.
Prepares financial statements and produces budget according to schedule.
Assists with tax audits and tax returns.
Directs internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
Supports month-end and year-end close process.
Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Ensures compliance with GAAP principles.
Academic Qualification
Advanced university degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred.
Professional Experience
5 years of clerical experience in the area of finance and accounting; work experience with international organizations in the field of accounting/ finance is an asset.
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience in report writing.
Hands-on experience with different accounting software.

Spoken and written fluency in English and Arabic. (French is a plus)
