The lawyer will be working in a multidisciplinary team on a protection and legal support project with AJEM and its partners. Work sites are distributed between Syrian refugees’ camp sites, local offices, detention centers and courts all over Lebanon.
Tasks:
Conduct legal counselling in refugee camps and in detention.
Provide legal assistance and follow-up for refugees in civil documentation and in criminal law.
Report on weekly and monthly basis to coordinator and head of department on cases taken and followed.
Assist in developing and conducting awareness campaigns, and activities to support the community regarding legal status.
Plan, develop and conduct legal awareness sessions for the refugee community.
Write report of the awareness sessions in collaboration with a Legal Assistant.
Attend meetings and workshop/training as requested by the Project Manager, Protection Coordinator and AJEM Head of Legal Department.
Skills required:
Good written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English, French is a plus.
Ability to work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team and coordinate between different parties involved in the activity.
Belief in human rights and knowledge about civil society.
Knowledge about protection and legal aid mechanisms.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
Strong understanding of International Human Rights, Refugee Law and Lebanese law.
Proficiency in all Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint...) and internet resources.
