Accountant /admin Assistant

  Intro: TDH- IT is seeking an Accountant/Admin Assistant to support with EU- funded (‘Madad Trust Fund’) education project, ‘Back to the Future’ in consortium with AVSI (lead agency) and War Child Holland. The consortium will support formal and non-formal activities for vulnerable preschool and school aged boys and girls (over 3 years old) in Lebanon and Jordan. Activities include; school rehabilitation, remedial classes, foreign language classes, homework support and PSS activities.   Job Purpose: With an anticipated start date of Mid- August 2017, the Accountant will support the Project Finance Officer and Project Manager to monitor and report on the education activities being conducted in community centres across Mount Lebanon region. He/she will assist with financial monitoring, procurement procedures and building the field staff’s/partners capacities to do the same.     Key Responsibilities Participate in the financial planning of the education activities with the Project Finance Officer and Project Manager (preparing; budget phasing, fund requests, budget reallocations); Support the Community Centers with procurement planning; ordering items, collecting invoices, and supporting financial documentation for expenditures; Support the Finance Officer with financial data entry and update project files to ensure orderly processing and storing of financial records; Regularly observe/monitor education activities in the community center; feeding- back suggestions for improved implementation to the Project Coordinator and Manager; Support TDH IT field and partner staff to plan activities, financially report and design new activities in line with the current project objectives. Conduct training for field staff on project financial management and monitoring; Provide timely and detailed financial and narrative reporting of project activities in English to the Financial Officer and Project Manager; Participate in the project’s coordination meetings and elaborating action points briefings; Other duties as assigned.   Experience required: Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject (Business, Administration, NGO Management)   Experience and competencies:   Essential:   A minimum 2 years’ experience in a program position preferably with Local or International NGOs in the field of education or child protection; A minimum of 1 years’ experience supporting with project financial monitoring; A minimum of 1 years’ experience supporting with NGO project admin and reporting (preference for someone with EU knowledge/experience); Experiencing of working for a local NGO or for an INGO that manages local partners; Experience of building field staff’s capacities through trainings or learning by doing; managing volunteers, interns or other project staff; Valid Driver’s license and ability to drive in Lebanon; Ability to work independently as well as to coordinate with field colleagues; Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; Good command of Excel, Data Entry systems (i.e ACCESS/ODK) and Microsoft Word; Strong cross-cultural sensitivity and flexibility; Proved communication and negotiation skills;
