Data Collector

Background   ARK Group DMCC delivers stabilisation, development and conflict transformation programming in some of the most challenging locations in the world, from the Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon to Bahrain, rural Yemen and Syria, where for the past five years ARK has been at the forefront of the response to the conflict.  Working for governmental donors, ARK has supported conflict-affected communities on the ground.  Programmes have included sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) responses and launching the programme of life-saving support to Syria’s Civil Defence teams.  We have a highly dynamic, capable, multinational team with offices in Dubai, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, London and Washington DC.   The Data Collector will be conducting geographically based field surveys for a UNDP project. The data collectors’ survey work will be essential in providing reliable data that will form the basis for a broader analysis and detailed report.   Tasks & Activities Locate and visit households as per a defined sampling plan. Conduct an average of ten surveys per day. Ask questions in accordance with instructions to obtain various specified information. Explain survey objectives and procedures to respondents and interpret survey questions to help   respondents’ comprehension. Assist individuals in filling out surveys. Review data obtained from interview for completeness and accuracy. Compile and record data from surveys, using a computer or a specified form. Identify and report problems in obtaining valid data. Coordinate movements with the direct supervisor and report on daily activities. Undertake basic security assessments prior to visiting a given area. Attend training workshops and coordination meetings as required.   Experience Previous experience in conducting large-scale surveys, approx. 1-2 years. Degree level education. The ability and willingness to travel to all areas in Lebanon. Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic (English is a plus).
