Project Officer

Job description  The project officer is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of LAH’s projects ensuring consistency with LAH’s strategic plans and with decisions taken by the general assembly. All the persons involved in the project will report directly to the Project Officer. LAH projects include developing history education in public and private schools in Lebanon, supporting a network of history educators as well as designing and implementing professional development programs for history teachers in Lebanon.   The Project Officer’s areas of responsibilities:     Planning  -        In charge of preparing all legal documents, setting strategic plans and following up with staff and stakeholders.   Public Relations and Recruiting  -        In charge of contacting schools to promote LAH’s educational programs. -        Establishing firm relations with schools, meeting with school administrators to ask for their commitment and support for the training of their respective teachers, and authorisation for classroom observations by mentors.   Advertising -        In charge of monitoring the promotion of LAH programs through the media (TV, newspapers) and the social media (Facebook and twitter).   Reporting and Presenting -        In charge of preparing reports for all assigned projects periodically. -        Presenting a 3 to 4-page report for every workshop to LAH Administrative Committee.   -        Preparing an end of year report at the end of year 1 and 2. -        Preparing PowerPoint presentations and informative illustrations to LAH Committees when needed.   Finance -        In charge of processing payments and keeping financial records.   -        In charge of preparing financial reports for all assigned projects every three months. -        Working closely with the financial auditor to produce audited reports yearly and at the end of projects.      Publishing -        In charge of overseeing the publishing of educational and training materials on LAH website and ensuring coordination with teachers, facilitators, web developer, web designer, editor for the online finalization of the training curriculum as well as the curriculum units.    Main Job Tasks lead the planning and implementation of projects decided by LAH’s Admin Committee. facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables. define project tasks, resource requirements, and timelines. develop full scale project proposal. identify funding opportunities and approach potential funders. assemble and coordinate project staff. manage project budget. manage project resource allocation. provide direction and support to project team, and maintain constructive communication among them. ensure quality work from all staff members. constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders. present reports to LAH Admin Committee defining project progress, problems and solutions. seek and manage project evaluations. manage the publication process resulting from the project. prepare press releases to share findings or progress with the general public.   The Project Officer reports directly to LAH’s president and is expected to work closely with the Admin Committee. This position is renewable based on availability of funds.
