Communications Assistant

BACKGROUND  The Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development (LIVCD), originally a five year project, has received a sixteen month extension up to January 2019, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented under the leadership of DAI Global LLC (DAI). The LIVCD project aims to increase the competitiveness of selected value chains, expand the number of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises that can compete in selected markets, improve linkages between those firms and other actors throughout the value chain, increase the gross value of products and services in local and export markets,: and expand exports. OBJECTIVES  The Communications Assistant will support the Communications Specialist in creating and disseminating project stakeholder communications. The Communications Assistant will help to create clear communication of project activities, results and impact so that donors, managers, implementers and stakeholders of the project understand the nature and impact of project activities and interventions.   SPECIFIC TASKS Preparing weekly reports of activities, and supporting the team in preparation of quarterly reports. Conducting interviews in the field with the projects beneficiaries, in order to write success stories on the project’s achievements Need-based translation of several types of documents (English/Arabic) such as success stories, press releases, and other communications material. Coordinating the preparation of audiovisual and printed material : documentaries, banners and brochures Preparing and editing content for a project website and ensuring a regular presence on social media Preparing and editing content for project’s newsletters Managing and populating the project’s library of reference documents and collecting relevant publications through media monitoring Other duties as assigned by the Communications Specialist QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a similarly related field A minimum of three years of relevant experience in communications for internationally funded development programs Experience with and knowledge of USAID reporting requirements is preferred Demonstrated strong problem solving skills as well as exceptional customer relations; sound business judgment. Fluency in English is required  Supervision  The Communications Assistant will work under the direction and report to the Communications Specialist.
