Engineer Assistant - Wash

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The purpose of the position is to support the implementation and monitoring of the WASH infrastructure interventions within World Vision’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program in the Bekaa and to improve the public health of the target population. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: % Time Major Activities End Results Expected 15% Design drawings and plans Support in the development of Bill of Quantities (BoQs) based on the technical drawings and tender documents. Assist in the design, specifications and planning for water and wastewater treatment and infrastructure projects. Draft drawings as required. Drawings and specifications are reflected in BOQ’s. 65% Supervise the Implementation Work with the engineer to develop detailed, site-specific (Bi Monthly) work plans to ensure adequate technical oversight of WASH interventions at the field-level. Supervise field-level WASH infrastructure implementation. Follow up on the ways the samples are taken from the field, analyze laboratory results, and water quality. Manage Water tests for sources such as wells, tanks, trucks, springs,… Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) that is updated Bi-Weekly Implemented of works as per the approved specifications Tests done are as per specifications Water quality in accordance to specifications 5% Handle Capacity Building Train WASH Assistants on the standards of water quality, sampling and assessments. Train WASH Assistants on using checklists and monitoring tools. Assist related staff in Community WASH training. WASH Assistant staff are implementing standards properly Community has better WASH awareness. 10% Document Information and data Report on laboratory results. Perform daily field visit to monitor work progress and report any problem or issues on site. Support supervisor in writing Terms of Reference and any other research task as needed. Provide the data officer with necessary project related data. Reports on field and laboratory tests are quantitative and scientific and reflects applicable standards Provide Recommendations in case of contamination Field Visit reports quantifying progress, remarks and problems in execution. 5% Perform other duties as required Attend and participate in capacity building trainings locally and internationally. Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture and other organizational events. Responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture. Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager. Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager. 100% KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Bachelor Degree in Civil, Industrial, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering 0-2 Years of experience in a similar supervisory and design position Strong English and Arabic communication skills (oral and written) Ability to travel across the country regularly for training, assessment, regular monitoring and evaluation Details oriented A high level of diplomacy and networking skills is required Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity and physical stamina Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment Ability to maintain performance expectations in psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources Ability to use a computer, with word-processing and spreadsheets, (e.g. Microsoft Office) Ability to use AutoCad Member in Lebanese Order of Engineers and Architects Ability to Use ArcGIS Travel to implementation sites and regional, global meetings as required.
