Volunteering opportunity Cultural and professional diversity program – Summer school in Dalhamiye
This program introduces students to diverse cultures around the world, with the aim of implementing a consciousness of pluralism, acceptance of the other, and expanding the general knowledge.
SAWA is therefore seeking foreign-speaking volunteers from different backgrounds to be able to deliver these ends, through a comprehensive and interactive presentation of their country of origin
Around the world in 60 days is a summer program that aims at offering a virtual tour of the world to Syrian refugee children living in informal settlements in the Beka’a Valley in Lebanon.
The program is meant to be very interactive and fun for the children while at the same time informative about countries, their cultures, habits, traditions, cuisine, folkloric, history, music, dances… It also consists of having other activities that are directed towards vocational training and eye opening careers/hobbies that the children could seek and develop themselves in the hope of a better future (fashion design, painting, facial make up, agriculture projects, acting, football coaching, hand craft, writing poems…).
We encourage non Lebanese volunteers to apply to this activity of the program.
The program is taking place in our Dalhamiyeh community center in Beka’a in July and August 2017. Volunteers are welcome to come for a period of one week at least to a maximum of two months, and they will be asked to present an activity for 2 days, 2-3 hours each day for a group of 30 students.
We need from you a one-page concept note that includes the following:
Your idea (specify the activities and the content)
Objectives and goals
Benefits for the children
How you plan to implement the idea
Timeline
List of material you will need (Volunteers need to bring material with them except for the basic ones)
Also:
Volunteer are required to provide an official clean criminal record.
Volunteer speakers are required to read and sign SAWA’s child protection policies.
Volunteer speakers should refrain from involving any dangerous material in the activities.
Each Volunteer speaker would have to prepare a session with a fellow Arabic-speaking volunteer to optimally convey the information to the students.
We are offering:

Basic material for implementations
2-days accommodation in the Bekaa
An experience of a lifetime!
Volunteers with the best ideas will be invited again next year to implement their activity again in next year’s summer school.
