The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC has a permanent mandate under International Law to take impartial action for prisoners, the wounded and sick, and civilians affected by conflict.
The ICRC has been present in Lebanon since 1967 and has carried out its humanitarian work through periods of conflict, including 1975-1990 civil war. Currently it is responding to the rapidly growing needs of displaced people fleeing war and violence across the region and the communities hosting them.
The ICRC's main delegation in Lebanon is based in Beirut, and has three sub-delegations in Tripoli, Tyr and Zahle.
Job Purpose:
The Medical Logistician Assistant at ICRC will be responsible for providing Medical Logistics support to ICRC programmes in Lebanon in accordance with ICRC logistics standards and best practices. In addition of handling current medical logistics supply chain activities for ICRC medium/big operation with in the country and/or for specific sectors, including customer services.
Minimum required knowledge & experience
University education in Business Management or equivalent (Logistics is an asset).
3 - 5 years work experience in similar function.
Good knowledge in Good Distribution/Storage Practices is a plus.
Order and inventory management is a must.
Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
Excellent computer skills (Excel is a must).
Rigorous and precise.
Strong sense of responsibility and adaptability.
High organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and to take initiative.
Good communication and negotiation skills.
Team leadership skills.
Methodical person.
Function description:
Manages, maintains and updates the logistics software systems (JDE)
Issues SR (Supply Request) according to ICRC procedures.
Follows-up all backorders with the medical warehouse and respective purchasers.
Conducts monthly and annual physical stock counts according to ICRC procedures.
In coordination with the Medical Logistician, prepares Order Purchase (OP) for local purchase of drug products and single use medical devices.
Conduct visits to Tripoli, Rafic Hariri University Hospital and ICRC medical warehouse.
Executes administrative tasks.
Handles specific logistics files independently.
Implements and runs basic logistics procedures.
Negotiates basic contractual matters with external interlocutors.
Receives, registers and reviews (medical) orders.
Ensures that cold chain equipment is working properly and that daily monitoring is in place.
Ensures stock rotation according to FIFO and FEFO.
