Livelihoods-Project Assistants

Job Summary Concern Worldwide is looking for a dynamic and creative individual with pleasant personality who is polite yet assertive in his/her objectives. Role of Livelihoods – project assistant will be suitable for someone who is confident, likes to meet new people and is good at networking. S/he must be willing to spend 80% of time in field and help preparing and maintaining database of beneficiaries with accurate information. Roles and responsibilities The project assistant who is reporting to the project specialists and to the Program Manager has the responsibility of ensuring participation of beneficiary households in all phases of various project implementation. A. Mobilization and Organization of the beneficiary communities. 1. Receive training on the project concept and approach to the community mobilization. 2. Contact the opinion leaders in the communities to establish early rapport and to provide overall orientation of the project. 3. With the support of opinion leaders mobilize, interact and dialogue with individuals representing beneficiary households for the organization of community for development. 4. Provide orientation training to the members of community to raise awareness about the project. 5. Facilitate small and large community meetings to encourage discussions for the formation of community development council (CDCs). 6. Conduct awareness training regarding the benefits of organized communities to encourage organization of the communities. 11. Facilitate the process of community development plan inline with project objectives and  obtaining community endorsement of Community Development Plans. 15. Facilitate in identification of appropriate and central location for implementation of physical projects. 23. Facilitate resolution of dispute, conflicts between individuals and among members of community Development Councils. B. Obtaining information related to the beneficiary communities 1. Obtain community data necessary for preparing community profiles as per the standard “Community Profile” format of the project. 2. Conduct baseline survey of the beneficiaries to establish baseline data of the community on some key indicators to measure impact of the projects. 3. Provide necessary reporting inputs to the monitoring and evaluation officer as per the standard monitoring formats on regular basis. C. Reporting and Linkages 1. Assist Program Manager and Project Specialists in development of a clear work plan for the community mobilization activities of the projects with the aim to complete the activities within the time frame of the project. 2. Supports to establish a close network with civil society and other organization working with refugees in North Akkar and Tripoli The specific duties and responsibilities of project assistant include: ·         Assists the livelihoods officers  in organizing and providing information to beneficiaries about livelihoods and vocational opportunities; ·         Provide information to beneficiaries on skills training, market opportunities, and small business creation; Collect information regarding available skills and available training opportunities; ·         Assists the livelihoods officer in the organization of training s and other events related to the project; ·         Assists the livelihoods officer in linking beneficiaries to adult learning institutions and refers them to selected courses; ·         Supports the livelihoods officer in linking beneficiaries to employers in the target areas; ·         Ensure safety and dignity of beneficiaries is respected; report any abuses ·         Any other task relevant to the position as requested by the line manager.   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:   ·         The project assistant should have minimum Bachelors degree in Sociology, Art, Development studies, communication or equivalent. ·         The incumbent should be familiar with basic concept of social mobilization; should have demonstrated willingness to learn and work with people for community development; ·         should be able to spend extended periods with communities preferably with Syrians and displaced population. ·         The incumbent should also have excellent oratory skills in local language and good oratory skills in English. ·         Minimum 3 years of work experience in conducting community mobilization activities in NGO or INGO. ·         Basic skill to use laptop, data entry, emailing and using office equipment. Behaviour Competencies; ·         Very good organizational and administrative skills ·         Strong initiative and self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles; ·         Attention to detail and exact following of procedures and instructions ·         Good cultural awareness and sensitivity ·         Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment; ·         Strong team working and support role skills Work Ethic: Adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct. Under take other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Assistant /Country Director.
