Psychosocial Support Activities Animator (Pss)

INTRODUCTION Terre des Hommes Italy, non-governmental international organization, is recruiting a Psychosocial Support Activities Animator to be involved in the implementation of the project: “Strengthening Protection for Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese girls and boys and their caregivers through quality prevention and response services”. The Child Protection (CP) intervention of Terre des Hommes Italy (TDH IT) “Strengthening Protection for Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese girls and boys and their caregivers through quality prevention and response services” in Mount Lebanon intends to: Strengthen the capacity of three MOSA Social Development Centers (SDCs) and a Local CBO to deliver emergency assistance, including child protection and family support services; Support the resilience and wellbeing of Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese girls and boys and caregivers through community based PSS and outreach activities; Provide focused psychosocial support (PSS) interventions and Case Management for children or survivors of abuse, violence and/or exploitation; Empower communities to identify CP priorities, resources, needs, and solutions in order to promote community participation and engagement.  Job purpose The Psychosocial Support Activities Animator has the knowledge and practical skills to carry out psychosocial support activities with children and adolescents.  She/he will work under the supervision of the Team Leader. Activities will be implemented in outreach (Mobile Unit Intervention).  Key Duties and Responsibilities: Implement psychosocial activities according to the children’s ages and situation and according to specific PSS curriculum; Identify and report children medium and high risk; Promote and ensure the child participation in all activities; Support in the outreach of the beneficiaries; Ensure CP policy during the transportation of the beneficiaries to the centers; Positively interact with children and encourage them to express their needs and ensure their safety; Ensure that the activities are done in an appropriate location in line with minimum standards, Ensure participation of children in the PSS program in a non-discriminatory as well as age and gender sensitive and appropriate approach; Ensure that the children feel safe, comfortable and respected during activities; Collects and documents feedback on the implementation of the methodology including challenges and lessons learnt; Ensure that all children and caregivers are aware of any accountability/ complaint mechanisms; Respect and abide to the organization’s internal code of conduct and child protection policy. Ensure sector specific tools as well as any specific organization assessment tools are implemented; Develop individual and group progress report and maintain a filing system of children respecting confidentiality; Collect attendance of participants in the activities, and fill in weekly reports as required; Participate to the weekly meetings with TDH IT Staff, to share lessons learned and exchange experiences;  Qualifications and Experiences: University degree in psychology, social work, education and/or other social science related courses At least 1 years working with children and preferably high risk children Previous experience in working with refugees and vulnerable population, preferable Excellent communication and facilitation skills (including active listening) Good in written and spoken Arabic - Knowledge of English is an asset Flexibility in working hours and willing to work in volatile environments
