Project Manager – Child Protection

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Working under the supervision of the Area Manager, the project manager will have the overall responsibility for managing the implementation of child protection activities in the area of Beirut and Mount Lebanon. He/she will be responsible of managing a team of field staff; of establishing and maintaining partnerships with a number of local implementing partners and engaging with multitude of stakeholders to ensure that the project objectives are met. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees implementation, ensuring that the objectives are met through proper planning, adequate staffing, efficient implementation and quality assurance. Establish and maintain effective project reporting and evaluation and communication systems. Manages project budget within approved spending levels and ensures accurate and timely financial reports both internally and to donors. Submits timely and accurate project progress reports in accordance with internal, sectoral and donor requirements. Develops comprehensive procurement plans and ensure timely processing and effective follow up on procurement process while adhering both to WVI and donor requirements in meeting the project objectives. Ensures timely and accurate project spending is in line with budget and donor regulations. Coordinates regularly with the Area Manager and the NO Child Protection specialist on technical and project related matters. Responsible of recruiting field staff, supervising / monitoring partner staff recruitment processes and providing technical support throughout the duration of the project. Represents WV in front of Child Protection partners, donors, UN agencies and relevant government authorities. Participates on behalf of WV in Child Protection working group meetings, UNICEF partner coordination meetings and all other CP local coordination forums. Monitors the implementation and progress of the project according to approved stated objectives, plan of action, budget and records progress by working closely with the Design, Monitoring, and Evaluation unit and the Area Manager. Participates in periodic evaluations of the impact of the project on the Beneficiaries with support from the DME unit. Ensures that minimum standards of the child friendly are considered Identifies key protection threats affecting the child friendly spaces. Engage partner communities and build constructive relationships in order to understand their realities and facilitate the project’s implementation processes effectively Prepare and organize community based activities including workshops, trainings, and other events in coordination with relevant stakeholders and WVL subject-matter experts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: University Degree in a field related to community development or social work, a degree in psychology or master’s degree is a plus. Solid Knowledge and skills in Child Protection and Psychological Support programing. In-depth knowledge of project design, project management, and project implementation. Solid communication, interpersonal, negotiation and relationship management skills and experience. Proven ability to work effectively and sensibly in cross-cultural settings and complex environments. Experience in leading projects and managing and supervising staff. Experience in managing Grants, UNICEF CP grant would be a plus. Basic knowledge of accounting and finance principles. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic. At least 3 years’ experience in an INGO and in working in a similar project in a response context.
