GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Deputy Program Manager, the WaSH Field Supervisor is responsible for the daily technical planning, supervision, monitoring and reporting of the field activities and for ensuring proper coordination with communities, municipalities and related Action Against Hunger departments. S/he provides leadership to the team.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS (desirable)
Degree in environmental field, water related studies or civil engineer with WaSH experience or related discipline
Experience in treatment solution for grey water, waste water treatment systems
Experience in data analysis
Experience in a similar position
Team management experience
Reporting skills
Organized and rigorous
Ability to work in a team, interpersonal skills and diplomacy
Quick learner (availability/capacity to learn)
Fluent in Arabic and excellent English
Computer skills: MS Office (including Access), Google Earth, GIS software would be an asset
DETAILED OBJECTIVES AND TASKS
Objective 1: Supervision of WaSH Related activities
Provide technical input and advice in emergency response water and sanitation activities, as well as waste management and hygiene promotion **Follow up the defined work plan** Follow up the implementation of requested integrated activities (awareness sessions, assessments) **Ensure the work is properly done and the material use wisely** Coordinate with the field team, the municipality focal point and the HoP **Ensure that the weekly/monthly work plan is respected on the field** Ensure that the project activities are introduced and coordinated at the municipality level
Objective 2: Team management
Supervise and mentor the employees of his/her team and the partners ** Participate in staff training, help building the technical capacities of the staff, operators and partners in the area of WaSH and Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Accountability (MEAL) ** Mentor and coach colleagues and team members, building their capacity to achieve high quality results and impact ** Help to develop and execute context-specific solutions to improve collaboration, coordination and performance
Objective 3: Reporting
Report the progress of the work to the Deputy PM ** Report any conflict or problem during the activities ** Report how materials have been used and possible improvements ** Collect data regarding the project and potential beneficiaries ** Report regularly to the Deputy PM
Objective 4: Other WaSH related activities
Participate in assessments ** Participate in the distribution of water and sanitation items ** Support field officers during construction or other activities
Objective 5: Action Against Hunger Charter and Principles
Respect of Action Against Hunger Charter and Internal rules ** Be committed to participate with any other work to achieve the project goals
Objective 6: Security
Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan, see to it that the team under his/her responsibility complies with the security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols ** Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or non-compliance with the security plan
Objective 7: Support humanitarian activities of Action Against Hunger
Support emergency interventions, as per the employee's capacities ** Support any activity that helps achieving Action Against Hunger's humanitarian goals, as per the employee's capacities.
