Community Hygiene Promoter Officer

MISSION Goal / Purpose: Under the supervision of the CHP Team Leader, the community hygiene promoter is in charge of the needs assessment, the preparation, implementation and monitoring of Hygiene Promotion activities in collective shelters of Syrian refugees and surrounding host communities.     List of main responsibilities:   Evaluation / diagnostic: -          Collect accurate data’s at community level -          Conduct different assessments and surveys (people identification, hygiene practices survey, needs assessment activities monitoring and evaluation, etc.) -          Participate in Hygiene Promotion strategy definition, in setting up criteria for selecting beneficiaries -          Identification of target groups through the communities (women, vulnerable…) -          Be aware of the evolving needs of the refugee population in the intervention area and report any information related to changes in the health and hygiene conditions of the refugee population     Implementation and operational monitoring -          Ensure frequent visits on assigned sites -          Ensure good communication between SI and the beneficiaries (mandate, organization, activities, etc.) -          Prepare, create and organize hygiene promotion activities adapted to the needs and beneficiaries (in schools, Refugees’ households, distribution points…) -          Ensure continuous renewal of hygiene promotion tools and activities -          Mobilize the beneficiaries to take individual and/or collective responsibility for the hygiene promotion, water and sanitation activities -          Creation of new committees by the implementation of a comprehensive/ participatory approach -          Ensure training (internal or external), support and follow-up of the committees -          Distribute toolkits, cleaning kits and other items to the committees and communities representatives. -          Conduct monitoring of the activities, analysis of the data -          Propose adaptation of the activities according to the impact, in order to meet the needs and expectations of the beneficiaries as well as the objectives (indicators) of the program -          Regular follow-up of the assigned sites (hygiene conditions, people awareness, people mobilization for water, sanitation and hygiene activities, activity of CWC, reporting done by the committees, etc.) -          Punctually participate in other SI activities (mass media event, FGD, assessments, emergency distribution, …)     Reporting -          Share with the line manager and the security focal point all relevant information about security, activities, logistics or administrative issues occurred at field level, using Solidarités International’s tools and procedures -          Maintain an accurate reporting and data entry and data management of the activities, incidents, achievements, referrals, information, etc. -          Update regularly the site profiles and family lists     Communication / representation / coordination -          Follow activities implemented by other organizations in Solidarités International’s area of intervention and report to the line manager all relevant information -          Give information to the beneficiaries about SI mandate, activities, results and about external actors and mandate -          Facilitate and build up and maintain good relationships and communication with the beneficiaries in the assigned sites -          Participate in the mitigation of problems between communities when they arise -          Represent SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL when necessary -          Facilitate the coordination between the WASH Committees and the CSMC or other committees -          Use SI referrals process concerning WASH and non-WASH related issues and follow-up the actions taken by SI or others actors to respond to the issues -          Coordinate with other SI activities and departments for the daily activities -          Facilitate external coordination with local authorities, landlords, NGOs and other actors (introduce new partners, relay some messages, facilitate the organization of Focus Group Discussion, …)     ORG CHART POSITION (reporting and functional relationships) Line manager: CHP Team Leader Line report(s) on base: - Functional manager: - Functional report(s):  -   Job Requirements:      Bachelor’s degree in communication, or other relevant field Strong Communication skills:  Excellent oral and written: Arabic and English Minimum of 1 experience working in Hygiene promotion programs or community based humanitarian programs Team player, problem solver, flexible, network-builder, able to exhibit cultural sensitivity
