Core Humanitarian Standards Trainer

  1.       BACKGROUND   Diakonia is a Swedish non-governmental development organization (NGO) whose mission is to contribute to changing political and societal structures that sustain injustice, poverty and exclusion in the world.  It supports civil society organizations in around 30 countries of Africa, Asia, Middle East and Latin America to implement projects and programmes that promote human rights, gender equality, democracy and participation, social and economic justice, and conflict resolution with justice.   Diakonia also supports its national partners to undertake humanitarian work in countries where partners have capacities and resources to undertake humanitarian response and disaster risk reduction. (The number of so called “strategic humanitarian countries” within Diakonia is currently 12).   Project Component: Quality Assurance   Diakonia aims through this component to introduce high quality systems ensuring accountability and quality management in line with Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS)   2.       OBJECTIVES OF “Core Humanitarian Standards Training”; This training will help the participants to develop and update the complaint mechanism in line with CHS and to ensure the integration of these standards in their humanitarian interventions. The trainer is expected to conduct two training days on Core Humanitarian Standards with up to 20 participants representing Diakonia Partner.   LOCATION AND TIME FRAME   Four training days in Beirut between April and May   RESPONSIBILITIES -       Establish overall training session objectives -          Present training methodology -          Prepare/Adopt training materials -          Conduct four training days -          Deliver final reports including group knowledge increased.       QUALIFICATIONS   Diakonia is seeking trainer with the below qualifications:   Demonstrable experience in conducting trainings of Core Humanitarian Standards Knowledge and experience working in Humanitarian field Knowledge of the refugee situation in Lebanon would be an advantage. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
