GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971. Actually is working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the begin of Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa financed by International Donors. GVC is recruiting personnel to cover the position of Engineer to support activities in Bekaa Position Title:                   Engineer Reporting to:                        Program Manager Duty station:                        60% GVC Office in Ain, North Bekaa and 40% GVC Office in Zahle, Central Bekaa Salary grade:                                        G5 / L0 OBJECTIVES: GVC is seeking an Engineer to follow up the rehabilitation of schools in North Bekaa. The engineer will be responsible to follow up the rehabilitation of the schools, liaise with contractors, approve quality of material and provide daily report against work plan MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervision of the progress of construction works conducted by the Contractor; Guarantee smooth implementation of construction activities between the Contractors, headmaster requests and the different suppliers; Guarantee that all the technical documentation is properly filled, updated and classified; Guarantee that the rehabilitation is following MEHE specifications; Develop a certain degree of autonomy in managing issues related to the daily implementation of the activities; Report to and discuss with the PM and Local Coordinator any technical issues which may have a direct impact on the general implementation of the project and the organisation’s activities in the area; Contribute to identify new project in the sector, assess and prepare technical documentation for project proposal Participate in coordination meeting held in the GVC Offices. Any other task not here listed and necessary to the projects and activities The engineer is a GVC representative, and at all times is responsible for representing GVC appropriately to the community Contribute to plan, organize and implement technical activities in the field Supervise on scheduled basis the implementation of technical activities through field visits and ensure that all activities are performed on schedule and in accordance with the work plan Prepare activities report on a regular basis as required QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors in Engineering The engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and timely weekly reports of each activities related to the project.   The engineer is also responsible to support in the preparation of BoQ, technical drawings. Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project At least 2 years of previous experience in construction company will be positively evaluated Driving licence (mandatory) PERSONAL AND INTER-PERSONAL SKILLS Arabic and Fluency in spoken English Highly organised and able to work independently and respecting deadlines Strong sense of responsibility, flexibility and willingness to work long hours Being flexible and with the ability to adjust to changes and new requirements EMPLOYEMENT CONDITIONS Contract duration: 7 months; Required Starting Date: 20th May
