Opd Midwife Supervisor

Main Purpose Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning his/her field of action (Nursing/midwifery) and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action. Accountabilities Provide health care related to gynecology and obstetrics to patients, including prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Ensure the implementation of MSF clinical policies, tools, guidelines and protocols related to gynecology and obstetrics in order to minimize clinical risk and to extend best reproductive practices. In collaboration with other medical colleagues, carry out the collection of quantitative gynecological and obstetrics data and ensure exhaustive use of management tools in order to improve obstetrics/gynecological results and to share knowledge among other field specialists. Plan and supervise the HR associated processes (training, performance evaluation, development and internal/external communication) of the WHC OPD team in order to ensure both an efficient sizing and the amount of knowledge required, To improve people’s capabilities and their active participation in influencing the targeted population using preventive practices. MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities Clinical responsibilities: Conduct a tour every morning together with the team- ensuring sure everything is in place and clean. Supervise medication distribution in collaboration with the pharmacist/dispenser and participate in updating of quotas. Guarantee quality of care Supervise antenatal consultations, post-natal consultations and family planning consultations. Ensure the correct execution of therapy /prescriptions by midwives in charge and the completion of the patients’ file Supervise and assist staff when difficulties occur Ensure medical confidentiality of patients Administrative management: Supervise the correct management of files (care) and of the correct data in patients’ files (patient data, medical history, diagnosis). Ensure compilation of statistics daily by the team and hand over the results to the data encoder on a weekly basis. Supervise that documents are well-kept (register, attendance sheet, patient file, post-partum file, antenatal file, data collection). Management of the paramedical staff: Organize the day’s planning, share out tasks among midwives/nurses Plan the timetables (days, weekends) Collaborate with the midwife activity manager in planning the yearly holidays taking into account the needs of the services. Control the absence of the staff (illness, unjustified, etc.) and communicate them to midwife activity manager/administration. Collaborate with IPD supervisor in relation of midwife rotation in Burj Barajne FP center Participate together with the midwife activity manager in evaluating the performance and the behaviour of the staff. Organise team meetings together with the midwife activity manager to discuss the problems/updates involved in the organisation. Evaluate together with the midwife activity manager the needs of training, organise trainings and participate in them. Infection control: Inform the hygienists to follow protocols and keep the ward clean. Supervise the cleaning, waste disposal and the cleaning and preparation of the material to sterilize. Promote hospital hygiene in accordance with cleaners. Actively participate as a member of the infection control team in meetings, trainings provided and follow ups.   Participation in WHC management : Join in the meetings as scheduled, i.e. WHC meeting, medical team meeting etc. Report the problems of the department  to the midwife activity manager. Participate in the monthly and yearly WHC OPD activity report. Participate in the development of reforms and changes in the working strategies. Participate in developing new protocols adapted to the context to improve quality of care. Additional responsibilities: Collaborate with IPD supervisors and the supervisors of other supporting services (mental health, health promotion, social worker, referral team) in ensuring best quality and comprehensive care. Rotation to IPD to ensure continuity of SRH related activities in absence of IPD supervisor Participates in all training delivered to the department and makes an ongoing effort to maintain and update obstetrical/medical knowledge and skills Competencies Results and quality oriented Teamwork and collaboration Behavioral flexibility Commitment to MSF’s principles Stress management
