Community Health Officer

Major Duties and Responsibilities: Lead, organise and supervise the team of social workers, community health mobilizers and community health volunteers Provide support to community health volunteers  including supportive supervision and on the job training for  Lebanese and Syrian community health volunteers  involved in the health project Assist in facilitation of regular meetings between Lebanese and Syrian volunteers in each project area Provide input into the integration of beneficiary participation into all aspects of  the health project Assist in formulation of health, nutrition and hygiene messages and approaches in consultation with health project staff and the community health volunteers. Monitor data entry by CHVs and submit timely weekly and monthly reports to the Senior Community Mobilization Officer. Act as link between Medair, communities, outreach staff and supported SDCs. Assist in planning and implementation of assessments and surveys as required Reflect the core values of MEDAIR when interacting with team members, Volunteers and beneficiaries.   Staff Management Line-manage social workers, community mobilizers and community health volunteers involved in the community health project. Responsible for coaching and technical supervision of community health volunteers in order to develop ownership and full responsibility for health and nutrition activities. Assess the training needs of community volunteers and ensure that appropriate training is conducted. Under supervision of senior health officer, identify and recruit appropriate CHVs and social workers.   Financial Management Under supervision of Senior Community Health Officer prepare PDFs for payment for CHVs and social workers.   Communication and Coordination In close coordination with the Senior Community Health Officer, develop and maintain appropriate, regular, transparent and supportive communication structures with the assigned community health volunteer team, SDC staff and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. beneficiaries, community leaders, local municipalities) with the objective of ensuring good cooperation and partnerships. Participate in Medair internal trainings; attend external meetings as delegated by Senior Community health Officer as required, represent Medair and feed back to the Senior Community health Officer / health project manager on relevant issues.   Logistics Support the logistics activities for the community health portion of the project as required and delegated by the health project manager.   Quality Management Ensure that all standardised templates and forms are used and guidelines are followed.   Person Specification and Competencies 2 years relevant post-qualificationprofessional experience  Knowledge and experience of primary health care principles and community mobilization. Experience in community based health programmes Native Arabic Speaker, Good English ( oral and written) Passionate about serving the poor Self-motivated willingness to support others and to share workload Aptitude for capacity-building Experience in training/mentoring/coaching staff Capacityto work under pressure and manage personal stress levels Creative, open-minded, flexible, self-learner Ability to manage project implementation Good numerical, report writing and administration skills Problem solving ability Clinical skills within a Primary Health Care setting Ablke to prioritise clearly and oversee multiple tasks Able to consult and lead by example Good understanding of humanitarian work Able to take the initiative in project decisions Able to enforce procedures Able to set clear objectives for staff and to delegate
