Main Purpose
Provide psychological support to patients, particularly children, according to MSF principles and protocols in order to improve the patients’ mental health.
Accountabilities
Carry out evaluation of psychological and mental health needs of patients, elaborate a diagnosis and establish a plan of treatment
Provide psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients, including children, according to MSF protocols and objectives to improve their mental health
Assess need for psychiatric care and refer the patient to the psychiatrist if deemed necessary. Insure proper follow up of patient with psychiatrist and good communication with the psychiatrist around patient care.
Implement the Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol when such cases are detected
Insure that all patient information is kept confidential, and manage patient files according to protocol
Refer patients to the social worker when services by other health professionals are deemed necessary in order to provide the most appropriate treatment
Refer patients to the medical team when medical issues are detected and insure proper communication with the medical team around referred cases
Insure good communication and collaboration with all departments through case discussions, attending team meetings and conducting trainings
Assist and train MSF staff members for awareness and proper referral purposes.
Train staff of local NGO’s, whenever the need has been identified, for capacity building purposes and/or proper detection and referral to MSF
Routine data collection, analysis, and documentation according to the requirements of the management teams and of the project/mission
Inform the supervisor about any issues or problems that may arise related to patients’ treatment in order to provide the best possible care
Attend all MH weekly and monthly meetings
Participate in case presentation and support team members around cases discussed

Essential degree or diploma in Psychology. Experience in working with children, running groups, performing trainings, assessments, individual and family counseling with adults and children.Basic knowledge and understanding of addiction and recovery.Strong communication skills as well as clinical skills.Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGO’s in developing countries.
