Value Chain Specialist – Processed Foods

Introduction:  The Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development Project is designed to assist the Lebanese private sector and selected NGOs and Foundations to improve the competitiveness of selected value chains in rural areas of Lebanon.   During December 2012 and the early part of 2013, the LIVCD team has conducted a series of assessments on promising value chains which are included in the LIVCD portfolio.  One such value chain is the food processing sector. Following the assessment, the team developed an upgrading work plan which includes activities, targets, outputs and outcomes; the purpose is to engage the private sector, farmers and other types of organizations in interventions to improve the competitiveness of the sector and create impact.    Purpose of this assignment:  The objectives of this assignment: Assess the current situation of waste water for one agro food industry specialized in Pickles, olives, fresh cut potatoes and vinegar Provide proper waste water solution if feasible with all technical details and needed testing Write technical specifications for waste water solution Assist LIVCD in bid committee and reviewing suggested vendor offers     Deliverables Detailed report and analysis on water treatment solution to the designated industry Provide technical review on vendor offers and attend suppliers sit visit.    Expert qualifications Expert shall have a master’s degree in analytical chemistry or environmental engineering. The expert shall have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in waste water treatment or related field such as water chemistry and others. A minimum of 5 years professional experience in similar assignment.       Reports to:  Processed food Value chain manager and Procurement department
