Job Title: Psychologist
Job Description:
The responsibility of the psychologist is to support children and families in need of individualized MHPSS interventions, within the framework of Makhzoumi community-based psychosocial support program.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide one to one clinical psychology consultations for mental health patients
  • Follow—up and report on the patients’ cases and progress
  • Refer the relevant cases to the psychiatrist for provision of the optimal health service
  • Documenting the cases and reporting the targets and impressions to internal (PHCC) and external entities such as other NGOs on monthly basis
  • Coordinating with MoPH Mental Health Department and attending the routine meetings and training sessions for updates

 

 Assess psychosocial and mental health needs of the children and caregivers referred or self-referred to MHPSS services, and determine if further intervention is needed
Coordinate the development of an intervention plan to assist children and families in overcoming emotional, relational and developmental difficulties
Provide technical guidance and support to junior psychologists, social workers and case workers
Provide therapeutic support to children and/or caregivers through individualized or group therapy sessions
 Identify the need for psychiatric intervention and refer to psychiatric services when and as necessary
Identify protection needs and contribute to the development of relevant interventions
Abide to standards of best clinical practice, confidentiality and informed consent
 Document interventions in compliance with guidelines and procedures
Participate in regular training and supervision activities as directed by Project Coordinator
Report monthly to Project Coordinator

Familiarity with the National Standard Operating Procedures for Child Protection and/or the Child Protection Practical Guidance document.
Awareness of the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (http://www.cpwg.net)
Excellent reporting skills

Experience required:

2 to 3 years

Education degree: Masters Degree Field of education: • Master Degree in Clinical Psychology.(مع اذن مزاولة مهنة) • Finalized or in the process of finalizing training on psychotherapy • Fluent in written and spoken Arabic – English or French are a plus. • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience, preferably in the context of community-based interventions. • Excellent communication skills
