  Lebanon Reforestation Initiative Terms of Reference                                              Conflict Management and Resilience Trainer I. INTRODUCTION Project Background Information The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the United States Forest Service (USFS) that provides technical assistance and institutional support for sustainable native tree reforestation and wildfire management in support of community stability and social cohesion. With administrative offices in Beirut, LRI technical experts manage a multi-year work program of activities throughout Lebanon in collaboration with grassroots organizations and local communities. One of the components of this project works on supporting social stability between Syrian and Lebanese communities. Conflict Management and Resilience Trainer  In the framework of the project “Lebanon Reforestation Initiative “funded by USAID, LRI is seeking a trainer in conflict management and Resilience. The trainer will be in charge of developing and implementing a one day practical workshop on conflict management, to empower Lebanese and Syrian groups of youth in 13 villages in Rashaya Region with the skills to enable them to manage the crisis between the Lebanese and the refugees youth and to build an environment for dialogue with the aim of keeping the civil peace and to set action plan of series of joint activities (i.e. Planting events, awareness raising, FIREWISE scalping activities…).  II. PURPOSE OF THE JOB Main work interfaces §  Internal interface -      Field Officer -      Admin and Finance -          Project Director §  External interfaces -      Syrian and Lebanese’s Youth   The Consultant is expected to perform the following duties: §  Training   Design an appropriate training workshop to meet the objective of the consultancy, including all training material Draft a training program (agenda) Implement  an interactive one-day training workshop for steering committees & Syrian and Lebanese’s youth Communicate in Arabic language §  Evaluation -       Design  pre and post-tests to assess the change in knowledge of participants before and after the training -       Provide a short summary analysis of results of the pre/post-tests. §  Reporting -      Compile all the above in a short activity report, including: The workshop program / agenda A description of training content and discussions of the youth and their interventions A short personal evaluation of the training, including performance of participants, challenges and achievements in addition to recommendations. III. EXPECTED DELIVERABLES TIMEFRAME In close coordination with the LRI’s Project Director, the expert is expected to conduct and deliver the tasks mentioned above by the end of April 2017. IV. REQUIREMENTS The Consultant should possess the following competencies, and experience: -       Bachelor in Management, Education or Social Science -       Profound knowledge of conflict resolution and consensus building with Syrian and Lebanese youth -       Experience in interactive and participatory training techniques -       Experience in designing trainings and developing training material  -      Experience in designing questionnaires, evaluation forms and pre and post-tests -       Languages: Fluent in Arabic and English -       Excellent social and interpersonal skills -       Experience in awareness raising and in motivating deprived communities -       Good knowledge of the area and its local habits -       Excellent written and verbal communication skills   V.
