Community Development Centre Assistant (National Staff Only)

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who can fit the position of Community Development Centre Assistant in Akkar.    Who are we?  DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.  DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.  For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.ngo   About the job  Under the supervision of the Community Development Centre Officer, the CDC assistant will be responsible for the day to day running of the centre’s activities and supervision of the centre’s staff.   Duties and Responsibilities  • Conduct FGDs and fill out questionnaires with beneficiaries to assess POC’s needs and interests;  • Develop, plan and organize courses and activities responding to the beneficiaries’ needs;   • Supervise and monitor all the community development center activities,   • Assist the community development center officer in the detailed planning of and reporting on the community center activities;   • Set the daily/weekly/monthly work plan, in coordination with the Community Development Center officer;  • Recruit beneficiaries for the different courses, trainings and activities (50% Lebanese and 50% Syrians);   • Responsible of developing and filing all documents related to the center, partner and beneficiaries’ (ex: TOR, MOU, attendance sheets, minutes of meetings, evaluations, beneficiaries’ files, reports, pictures etc.);   • Follow up on all payments and ensure timely and supervise payments in his/her sector of responsibility;  • Archive CVs and contracts (hard and soft copies);  • Ensure application of the human resources in the centers of the Code of Conduct and community development center guidelines, or any other guidelines developed by DRC;  • Organize administrative/financial/logistics matters related to the center activity  • Organize and ensure a timely, proper written weekly reporting and report daily if needed on problems faced;  • Prepare the weekly report for his/her sector of responsibility;   •  Prepare the monthly report for his/her sector of responsibility;    About you  To be successful in this role you must have:  •University degree; preferably related to social work  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience  •   Experience in development projects or community mobilization    In this position, you are expected to demonstrate DRC’ five core competencies:   Striving for excellence: You focus on reaching results while ensuring an efficient process.   Collaborating: You involve relevant parties and encourage feedback.   Taking the lead: You take ownership and initiative while aiming for innovation.   Communicating: You listen and speak effectively and honestly.   Demonstrating integrity: You act in line with our vision and values.     Moreover we also expect the following:  Required qualifications  • University degree in social work  • Experience in emergency work is a plus  • Experience with INGO (advantage)    Desirable qualifications  Ideally, you will also have:  • Ability to lead groups  • Good communication skills  • Good interpersonal skills  • Commitment to the values, vision and mission of DRC  • Good computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel…)  • Well-developed organizational and planning skills  • Self-motivation and strong team spirit  • Flexibility in terms of working hours and areas of intervention  • Ability to work under pressure and in a stressful environment  • Arabic and English (spoken and written)    We offer  DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till the end of December 2017, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from the End of February 2017 and be willing and able to work in Akkar.  Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates and Nationals; please refer to www.drc.ngo under Vacancies.
