Airport And Border Assistant

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office, direct supervision of the Sr. Operations Officer, and in close coordination with Senior Operations Assistant, the successful candidate is responsible for the efficient and effective preparation and facilitation of refugee and migrant movements at Beirut International Airport and from the border to the airport. 1. Assist refugees and migrants travelling under auspices of IOM with departure procedures at the airport, incl. check-in processes, immigration formalities and boarding procedures. 2. Verify travel documents and refugees’ and migrants’ identities prior to check-in. 3. Coordinate IOM assisted movements with airlines to ensure a smooth check-in process 4. Liaise with GSD at the border and at the airport to enable refugees and migrants to pass exit formalities and address any issues effectively. 5. Attend to any special needs for refugees and other migrants, including medical cases and unaccompanied minors. 6. Respond to any unforeseen delays, cancellations, or other issues and assists appropriately refugees and migrants. 7. Inform and coordinate with the Operations Department on departures, no shows, delays and cancellations, and any issues that may arise. 8. Provide airport arrival assistance to returnees travelling under AVRR programs and assist with onward transportation as required. 9. Assist and facilitate border crossing of refugees and migrants at the border between Syria and Lebanon and escort movements from the border to Beirut International Airport, when required. 10. Assist refugees and other migrants transiting Lebanon with departure procedures at the airport, incl. check-in processes, immigration formalities and boarding procedures. 11. Prepare the weekly airport schedule and coordinate staffing needs. 12. Prepare IOM bags, pink cards and luggage tags and complete departure arrangements for refugees including signing of Promissory Notes and Warrants. 13. Assist pre-departure arrangements at the IOM office/staging area for charter movements as needed. 14. Provide meals and other arrangements whenever necessary in coordination with the Operations department. 15. Provide general support to the operations department 16. Perform any other duties that may be assigned.

a) Secondary School diploma with minimum four years of relevant work experience or University degree in Political or Social Sciences, Law and/ or Business Administration with minimum two years of relevant work experience; b) Experience in air movement operations; c) experience in working with governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with international organizations; d) Background experience in working either at the airport with handling agents or airlines;
