Network Coordinator – Menengage Lebanon

ABAAD – Resource Center for Gender Equality Network Coordinator – MenEngage Lebanon Terms of Reference   Position: Network Coordinator, MenEngage Lebanon Time-Frame for this assignment: 10 months (renewable), initial probation of 3 months Location: Beirut, Lebanon Post holder reports to: Engaging Men and Masculinities Programme Manager at ABAAD About ABAAD ABAAD aims at achieving gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region, in both development and emergency contexts.  ABAAD seeks to promote equality and active participation through policy development, legal reform, gender mainstreaming, eliminating discrimination, in addition to supporting the advancement of women and empowering them to participate effectively and fully in their communities. ABAAD is a pioneer organization, in both Lebanon and the MENA region, whose work involves engaging men in masculinities and ending violence against women as one of its main pillars. ABAAD seeks to support and collaborate with civil society organisations who work on or want to activate i) gender equality, gender-based violence, and/or engaging men programmes, ii) direct services for women and men, and iii) advocacy campaigns. ABAAD coordinates the MenEngage Lebanon Network and represents, to be formed, MENA regional network to the MenEngage Global Alliance. About MenEngage Lebanon MenEngage Lebanon is a network with member organizations from various local and international organizations working to promote human rights and gender equality in Lebanon and Middle East region. MenEngage Lebanon aims to collaborate together, to boost all its members’ capacities and develop relevant processes in Lebanon aimed at ‘transforming masculinities and engaging boys and men in the struggle for women’s rights and gender equality and the elimination of gender-based violence and discrimination’. Recently, MenEngage Lebanon members together and in a participatory manner developed its Strategic Plan, following a series of consultations. MenEngage Lebanon is affiliated with MenEngage Alliance at the global level as its Country Network in Lebanon. ABAAD (as the coordinator of the network) also aims to initiate similar networks development processes in MENA region in cooperation with the Global Secretariat of MenEngage Alliance.   Principal Duties & Responsibilities  The overall responsibility of the Network Coordinator, MenEngage Lebanon would be to coordinate and provide strategic support to strengthen the MenEngage Lebanon Network, in collaboration with ABAAD – the coordinating organization. This will include:  Coordinate the operationlization of the MenEngage Lebanon’s Strategic Plan and execute, as decided by the general members and relevant members of the network management committee (as appropriate), activities by facilitating the development and strengthening the work-plan of the Network in Lebanon; Maintain regular communications with the general ME-N members, governance committee members and the Global Secretariat as and when required, under the guidance of the Masculinities Program Manager at ABAAD; Develop along with ABAAD, the resource mobilization plan in order to be able to implement the action work-plan of the Network, reporting, while maintaining communication and dealing with the relevant agencies in close coordination with ABAAD and the governance committee of the Network. Liaise, in collaboration with ABAAD and governance committee, with the Global Secretariat and relevant agencies, including donor agencies, as relevant during the course of operationlization of the Network’s Strategic Plan. Monitor the progress of the Network’s work plan and strengthening to ensure the successful implementation in a professional manner, including facilitating the implementation of Code of Conduct and Accountability standards and guidelines. Represent the Network in various spaces, including maintaining active presence in both online and offline communication platforms. Liaise with Masculinities Program Manager at ABAAD and the Global Secretariat of MenEngage Alliance, including others relevant, to initiate networks development processes in other countries in MENA region.   SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES -         Ability to think strategically and experience of coordinating and managing networks and related programmatic aspects; -         Highly organized and able to keep track of schedules; Strong networking and management skills, particularly with regard to working with others to get things done, including working effectively in complex matrix management situations; -         Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate, influence and negotiate both internally and externally; -         Excellent understanding and knowledge about women’s rights, gender and masculinities issues, and engaging boys and men; -         Fluency in English and Arabic; -         ICT skills, namely Microsoft Office, Basic design; -         Previous facilitation and training experience an asset;   Preferred Qualities  -         Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision and values of ABAAD mainly related to gender issues.  -         Superior inter-personal communication skills including the ability to work with multi-cultural teams and groups. -         Ability to achieve goals and meet deadlines. -         Self-motivated, intelligent, articulate, detail-oriented and able to manage and complete multiple tasks and assignments. -         Strong team and collaborative work skills. -         Excellent strategic thinking enhanced with ability to achieve results.
