Community Empowerment Officer (Ceo/unicef/ml/2017)

Introduction: The Child Protection (CP) intervention of Terre des Hommes Italy (TDH IT) “Strengthening Protection for Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese girls and boys and their caregivers through quality prevention and response services” in Mount Lebanon intends to: Strengthen the capacity of three MOSA Social Development Centers (SDCs) and a Local CBO to deliver emergency assistance, including child protection and family support services; Support the resilience and wellbeing of Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese girls and boys and caregivers through community based PSS and outreach activities; Provide focused psychosocial support (PSS) interventions and Case Management for children or survivors of abuse, violence and/or exploitation; Empower communities to identify CP priorities, resources, needs, and solutions in order to promote community participation and engagement.  Major Responsibilities: Develop, strengthen and maintain the relations with other local CBOs/NGOs; Lead and co-lead community meetings including a proper follow-up; Assist and support community groups in designing and writing project proposal (community led-initiatives) including budgeting; Coordinate and supervise the work of the Community Facilitators as well as follow up on their mobile schedule with community volunteers; Supervise psychosocial support activities implementation within the community and the monitor process in coordination with CP Officer; Responsible of the supervision for data entry: revision of the databases consistency; Enforce and monitor referral mechanism; Inform communities of project value - both monetary and social impact - and provide regular feedback to the PM; Plan/deliver trainings and workshops for the municipality, local authorities and community members on CP and PSS; Supervise the conduct of FGDs with host and refugee communities to identify common priorities for a particular area in coordination with M&E Officer; Monitor project implementation on a regular basis and participate in periodic reviews of the program, providing support where needed; Writing of weekly and/or monthly activities reports; Assist in preparation for an evaluation report about the different projects highlighting strengths, weaknesses, achievements, issues for all projects implemented and implementer’s capacity; Ensure the compliance with child protection standards and PSS Committee guidelines during the provision of the psychosocial support activities. Any other task relevant to the position.  Qualification and Experience:  Degree in humanitarian field and/or social science. Minimum of one year's recent relevant experience (within the past three years) of working within hosting and refugee community environment. Minimum six months’ recent relevant experience working to address Child Protection behavior and issues. Experience of partnership working with voluntaries, community members, other agencies, and local authorities. Awareness and recent experience of issues impacting on hosting and refugee community. Experience in conducting trainings. Knowledge of CPMS and CP services provided.  Key Working Relationships: Position Reports to:  Project Manager Indirect Reporting: Program Manager and Head of Office  Job Requirements: Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:  Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoying working in the field. Others:  Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English. Microsoft Office: Word and Excel is a must. Valid Lebanese driving license is compulsory. Availability of a car is an asset.   Working Environment:  70-80% field work Experience required: Minimum 1 years in the field of emergency. Language/s: English and Arabic
