Socio Economic Consultant – Focus On Solar Energy And Power Generation Projects - Baladi Program

JOB SUMMARY   The Socio-economic Consultant having solar energy and power generation projects experience, will be responsible for provision of concrete recommendations for the BALADI program actions, development activities and market strategy implementation & analysis. The Socioeconomic Consultant will study the impact of program activities on the local and regional area (micro and macro level) where projects are being implemented, and provide guidance for improvement based on lessons learned. The Socio-economic Consultant will report directly to the Grants and Assistance Compliance Manager to ensure proper implementation of development activities, effective market strategy and data analysis.   TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES   Ø  Develop project design and scope conducting market surveys that will a) allow engagement with local communities, b) provide understanding of local livelihoods and use of local resources, c) determine if locally made products are benefiting local community, d) identify appropriate products for marketing, and e) and develop a socio-economic study and viability for sustainable development. Ø  Propose an operation and management plan, financial plan and a sustainability plan to maintain financial balance for project operations. Ø  Assure technical guidance relevant to socio-economic development for stakeholders. Ø  Prepare requests for quotations/proposals, evaluate and select against feasibility economic studies and development viability, and develop cost estimate and schedule of works. Ø  Prepare logistics for specific project activities. Ø  Conduct field visits and draft reports Ø  Conduct evaluations on the performance of socio economic deliverables and outputs, the effect and impact of the community project on population of the village and the surrounding villages. Ø  Interview stakeholders and representatives of civil society. Ø  Build and maintain relationships and collaboration arrangements with key supports and stakeholders. Ø  Conduct roundtable discussions with project stakeholders to display results in order to be rectified and advising of problems encountered. Ø  Oversee the planning and execution of the project and field working groups. Ø  Serve as a mentor, coach and guide to project staff as well as develop presentations for capacity building, particularly with regards technical issues. Ø  Evaluate and analyze the success of results to find out whether the project was effective and achieved its objectives.   JOB TERMS Ø  Up to Five days consultancy per week, rate per day basis Ø  Communication and transportation are not paid   EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/ JOB RELATED SKILLS   Ø  Bachelor degree in Social sciences, Economic Development, Economics or related field. Ø  Master’s Degree preferred. Ø  More than 10 years of experience required Ø  Similar experience in solar energy & power generation projects’ business development is a plus Ø  Able to perform under tight deadlines   Ø  Previous experience with Caritas and/or USAID programs is a plus
