Psychosocial Support Coordinator

In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:   Facilitates the psychosocial support (PSS) Programme in UNRWA schools in Lebanon and provides direct technical support and capacity building to the school counsellors in PSS programme design, training development, programme implementation, individual supervision, and develops strategic direction of the PSS programme in the field with the support of the Education Programme.   Provides professional supervision – individual and group – to school counsellors in all areas.   Ensures professional development and training regularly relevant to school counsellors and for the continuous       improvement of the school counselling programme and participates in the development of capacity building materials targeting enhancing the psychosocial support and wellbeing of UNRWA students    Assesses the Mental Health Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) needs and ensures  that the Prevention Assessment Intervention Referral (PAIR) approach is adopted. Supports the reviewing process of the available resources, literature and training materials and strategic documents or organisational structure related to the psychosocial programme in Education.    Manages daily progress of the MHPSS Programme in Education including planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting (pipeline review & implementation plan). Conducts routine project needs assessments and programme reviews to ensure successful implementation and donor compliance.    Supports the school counsellors in performing the duties of PSS, Inclusive Education (IE), Protection and Gender Based Violence (GBV) at schools through planned visits and other supervisory tools within the PAIR approach and in coordination with Protection Mainstreaming Coordinator.   Guides the School Counsellors in organizing and administering the PSS, IE, Protection & GBV programme in schools.   In practical evaluations of the school counsellors’ work at schools in collaboration with the Area Education Officers to ensure that school-counsellor performance appraisal is aligned with the job description.   Supports the design of monitoring methods including self-evaluation tools in order to monitor PSS activities in schools and collaborates with the education program and project managers in evaluating, reviewing and controlling the quality of the PSS programs and offers recommendations on project/programme adjustment.   Supports the Implementation of the Psychosocial Conceptual Framework for psychosocial support in UNRWA schools, in a participatory approach in coordination with the Education Programme and other concerned staff.   Strengthens the psychosocial support, recreational and emergency responsiveness in UNRWA’s Education programme intended at strengthening UNRWA’s capacity to provide psychosocial support in education and promoting the psychosocial well-being of UNRWA students in Lebanon.   Supports the design of in school psychosocial support activities for children from age 6-18.   Monitors the implementation and progress of the PSS component in the EiE project according to approved stated objectives, action plan, budget and records progress by working closely with the project manager.   Advocates for programs and services that lead to student’s better well-being and success within the school and to teachers empowerment.   Coordinates with school staff for implementation of the inclusive programme and supports them in the implementation.   Coordinates with the Education Programme and maintains links with other services for the integration of the school counselling program to the total educational curriculum of the school.    Support in the procurement requests, to be presented on a timely basis to facilitate timely implementation of field activities related to MHPSS.   Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
