Peace Building/common Ground Trainer

Project Summary: Fursa   Within the framework of Search for Common Ground (SFCG) response to the needs of Syrian refugees and their host communities in Lebanon, Fursa is a project which aims to ensure a coherent approach to the Syrian crisis by empowering refugee and host population youth with opportunities to implement community initiatives.SFCG will be implementing Fursa with a focus on 5 communities in Akkar and West Bekaa. SFCG sectors of activities will include a media incubator, psychosocial support and relation-building activities, capacity-building workshops, and the design and implementation of community projects monitored through community consultations by trained youth.As part of the project’s start-up, a 6 days capacity building workshop for project staff, artists, trainers and partners is planned to take place in Beirut between the 9th and 20th of January 2017. The workshop aims to bring all actors involved in the project together to learn about the common ground approach and reflect on how to integrate it within the project’s implementation process.  In addition, it aims to build the capacity of local actors to replicate similar programmes in the future and ensure their sustainability. Therefore, training topics shall be, but are not limited to: 1)Key concepts of conflict transformation (4 days) Ø  Nonviolent communication and active listening Ø  Consensus-building Ø  Relationship-building Ø  Conflict analysis Ø  Promotion of dialogue and dialogue facilitation Ø  Negotiation and mediation 2)Community activities (2 days) Ø  Youth engagement Ø  Peace building through the arts (for the artists) Ø  Peace building creativity and innovation (for the social entrepreneurs) Ø  Do No Harm Ø  Using media for social participation SFCG is seeking to recruit a trainer with at least 8 years of experience organizational training to provide 6 days training for 20 participants around the above-mentioned topics. Main tasks: Ø  The Trainer is cordially requested to: Ø  Design and present to SFCG a training agenda and a detailed timetable of the training Sessions outlining the topics which will be covered and showing the numbers and types of exercises which the Consultant intends using; Ø  Prepares presentations that enhance the quality of learning for trainees; Ø  Coordinate with the project manager regarding the curriculum and training material as well as student progress; Ø  Use a highly interactive training methodology in order to emphasize the ideas of the training and assures a wide involvement from the trainees; Other requirements: Ø  Very good computer skills including knowledge of Office Package, Email packages, etc.; Ø  Experience in providing trainings on conflict transformation and peace building; Ø  Strong communication and training facilitation skills; Ø  Willingness and ability to be flexible; Ø  Excellent interpersonal skills                                                                                                                                                 Ø  Tailor modules to meet the specific needs of the trainees; Ø  Develop pre and post tests and evaluation forms to be completed by the participants in order to properly document the activity and assess the progress of the participants through the training Sessions; Ø  Attend the review, debrief and Analysis Sessions (RDA Sessions) at the end of each training day to assess the training Sessions. The findings of each RDA Sessions shall be used by the consultant to adapt the materials and approach for the next day’s training Sessions and, Ø  Based on the Timetable, the consultant’s observations and the analysis of the evaluation forms, and the pre and post-tests, provide SFCG with a full report 7 days after the training.
