Internship-Assisting The Communications Department

Organizational Relationship: Volunteer will be responsible to provide administrative and program assistance to WVL Communications Department. He/she will be involved in office work (95%) and field activities (05%). The volunteer will report directly to the Communications Manager and will closely work with the relevant Communications and RAM departments staff. Volunteer will not have any supervisory duties. Background: Volunteers are entitled to abide by WVL’s policies as well as respective field office internal procedures and programming requirements. Communications Manager is looking for volunteers to support in the day to day work of the communicators . The volunteer is entitled to relevant office space and responsibilities as defined by the WVL NO and respective Field Office requirements. The Comms Manager expects the Volunteer to engage in regular staff meetings, admind work activities, receive and provide feedback and perceive her/himself as a full time comms staff. The Volunteer is supposed to assist other staff in the comms department on daily basis and provide needed support. Purpose of the Position: To support the communications department in any way needed and relevant for the volunteer’s experiences and knowledge and as best deemed by the mutual agreement between the volunteer and the Field Office supervisor. Major Responsibilities: The main tasks of the intern would be to: 1. work with communications and RAM team to compile all donors visibility / comms requirements. Additionally, after reading, summarizing and prioritzing, intern shall develop a reader friendly document of all the donors visibility requirements, come up with a simple process (scheme) between RAM, Communications and Field that enhances visibility for all parties. 2. research concrete options for improving the donor's visibility (whether low-cost or high end.... online or field activities...) 3. go through World Vision Audio Visual Archive (Tapes, VHS, CDs, DVDs casettes etc...) and work with ICT team to come up with a way to compile, document, label and appropriately store them. 4. develop a list of all digital Communications resources (available on the current Communications hub "CommsNass") like photos and videos; label them, sort them and work with Communications Officer on uploading them ALL to WV approved platforms. Qualifications and Experience Required: The following knowledge, skills and abilities will be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training: 1. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills; 2. High Computer Literacy 3. Education in communications is preferred 4. Detail orientation and accurate in planning 5. Innovative and creative 6. Self-disciplined with good time management skills 7. Analytical aptitude and attention to details 8. Strong advocate for children 9. Honesty and commitment to World Vision principles 10. Ability to work independently as well as in a team 11. Detail orientation and accurate in planning 12. Enthusiastic and motivated
