AMIDEAST/Lebanon is recruiting a Professional Development Program Manager for the USAID-funded “Quality Instruction towards Access and Basic Education Improvement” (QITABI) project in Lebanon.
The QITABI project aims to expand equitable access and improve learning outcomes for vulnerable students in Lebanese public schools. The project will have an immediate focus on alleviating the strains to the system that are resulting from the continuing inflow of Syrian refugee children into Lebanese public schools.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon (MEHE), QITABI will improve facilities, services, and teaching as well as effectively engage communities and school councils to improve learning and increase the chances of youth remaining in the education system.
The project has three components:
Component 1: Improving reading outcomes for primary level public school students
Component 2: Expanding access to safe and relevant education for vulnerable public school students
Component 3: Strengthening management system to better direct and monitor education
Position Description
The vacancy for Program Manager falls within component 2 of the project which includes a professional development activity that will enable both DOPS and the schools to effectively use ICT in teaching and learning as well as support DOPS in planning for and training on educational and social activities as needed.
The Program Manager will handle various responsibilities and duties, which include:
Manage AMIDEAST's work on the program
Ensure that the professional development element is integral in the implementation of the component
Lead the design and implementation of all program activities to ensure that they are in line with agreed upon program objectives
Develop annual work plan designed to achieve all program commitments and deliverables
Develop weekly, quarterly, and annual reports, as well as any other requested reports
Work closely with Ministry counterparts
Work closely with the Monitoring & Evaluation department to track the subcomponent’s ability to meet its objectives
Supervise a team of consultants and staff to properly implement activities
Represent AMIDEAST and its projects at meetings and conferences as needed
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Education or other relevant field
Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience
Demonstrated experience in program management and program design; preferable on USAID projects
Knowledge of Lebanese public schools and the public educational system
Excellent organizational, managerial, interpersonal, and communication skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet
Lebanese citizenship
Willingness to work flexible hours when needed
Willingness to travel to different sites in Lebanon when needed
Fluency in Arabic and English required; fluency in French preferred
Excellent reporting and documentation skills in both English and Arabic
