Socio-Economic Development Analyst

Job brief Recruiting an expert to develop a strategic socio-economic development plan for Akkar. It will act as the basis for any socio-economic development project in the area and which can be monitored for good governance. The work should be in close coordination with the Governorate of Akkar and the local authorities, civil society organizations, public and private sector and stakeholders in Akkar. Responsibilities Work with the civil society organizations and cooperatives, local authorities especially the 6 union of municipalities of Akkar, governorate, public institutions such as the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Social Affairs and concerned stakeholders to develop the strategic socio-economic plan for Akkar. The development of the plan will be a participatory process with stakeholder that will stretch for 6 months’ period using workshops and focus groups. Establish a working group from the above mentioned stakeholders and experts in the field who will work together to identify the current status and analysis of external and internal socio-economic environment, define the vision for Akkar, and its strategic orientation, set up human and financial resources needed and action plan based on priorities, implement pilot projects based on priorities through sub-grants, monitor and evaluate the progress.  Develop a booklet that summarizes the strategy that will be disseminated within all local authorities, CSO’s cooperatives, donors, private sector, ministries and public institutions and all relevant stakeholders to ensure it is widespread across the region Tasks: Contact local stakeholders to launch the work for the strategic socio-economic plan for Akkar Develop Akkar socio-economic plan working groups including CSO's Strategy working group includes major public, private and CSO and cooperatives stakeholders Develop the action plan for the Strategic socio-economic plan Handle all socio-economic plan workshops Finalize and disseminate findings of socio-economic plan Assist in managing printing and disseminating of the strategic socio-economic plan booklet to concerned stakeholders Present the plan in events (powerpoint presentation) Assist in gathering a number of local authorities and socio-economic institutions to participate in the dissemination of the strategic socio-economic plan for Akkar Prepare: Minutes of meetings, Progress Reports, coaching reports, Quarterly reports, Final report, Reports on workshops for the development of Strategic socio-economic plan of Akkar.  Requirements Previous experience in socio-economic development Analytical and writing skills Narrative Reporting Conducting SWOT analysis Experience in previous development for socio-economic strategies & plans Strong interpersonal skills required, including ability to effectively negotiate and build relationships with counterparties and stakeholders Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
