Position Summary: The Nutrition Advisor will be responsible for mainstreaming nutrition considerations throughout all activities conducted during project implementation. This will include but not be limited to, preparing training materials for Replacement Card Distributions, integrating key nutrition survey questions into Household Visits, Focus Group Discussions and Shop Monitoring Visits in close coordination with WFP, assisting with referrals for nutrition and health services to beneficiaries, and providing monthly reports on activities and developments related to nutrition, health and wellness in the designated area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as the point of reference to mainstream Nutrition awareness throughout all the activities of the project, namely but not limited to the activities of: The Food Security Outcome Monitoring, Focus Group Discussions and Card Replacement Distribution which will enhance the understanding of food utilization, maximize qualitative data collection, increase the beneficiaries’ nutrition awareness, and provide them with a clear guidance regarding their access to relevant health care services as it relates to nutrition;
Develop Training presentation materiel related to Nutrition promotion and awareness sessions which will be provided to the beneficiaries by the Outreach Workers at the card replacement distribution sites;
Provide adequate Nutrition Promotion Trainings to project staff that will cover topics related to how to choose nutritious foods, food safety, infant and young child feeding and introduction of solid food along with basic hygiene awareness. Trainings regarding the above topics will be provided by the Nutrition Advisor to:
The Outreach Workers who will assist in the implementation of the awareness sessions to the beneficiaries during the distribution activities;
The Outreach workers and the Household Liaison Assistants will also receive the training with the objective of being able to answer any inquiries and questions related to nutrition, food utilization and hygiene and to provide needed information regarding the beneficiaries’ access to nutrition services;
Assist in the recruitment of the Outreach Workers who will support in the actual implementation of the Training Sessions during the Card Replacement Distribution phases;
Act as the point of contact with the beneficiaries in order to answer any of their inquiries and questions in a highly professional manner during activities and through the hotline. The job holder must demonstrate the right attitude, approach and cultural sensitivity while dealing with the beneficiaries which is in alignment with the RI’s Code of Conduct. All beneficiaries are treated with dignity and respect throughout the distribution process;
Coordinate with RI's Health Program Team as necessary and relevant to ensure consistency with other RI Health program implementation.
Provide qualitative and quantitative reports to the direct supervisor whenever requested to do so.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
A solid demonstrated ability to be attentive to cultural sensitivity regarding vulnerable communities;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
English and Arabic fluency required;
English writing skills required;
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and tasks efficiently;
Experience working with refugee populations in emergency response context;
Willingness and ability to travel to field locations, if requested;
Sensitivity to the extremely vulnerable conditions of the target population, and ability to effectively communicate with beneficiaries and other stakeholders;
Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail.
