Community Health Officer - South

Summary and Background: The Community Health Officer (CHO) is in charge of the management and implementation of the community health program in the assigned area.  Place in the Organization The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Area Manager in the assigned Area and under the technical supervision of the Community Health Program Manager. The Community Health Officer will supervise community health team including supervisors and workers. Functions and responsibilities In accordance with established policies and procedures and in coordination, the Community Health Officer will lead the implementation of the community health program in the assigned area. He/She will: Develop detailed work plans and oversee schedule of Community Health Supervisor and Community Health Workers Identify capacity building needs and organize refresher trainings as needed Analyze data collected from the field and report on findings consistently   Utilize findings from community level data to inform health promotion interventions Work closely with Area Manager and Health Officers to adapt interventions and services at facility level based on findings from communities Lead execution of public health assessments on the field level; prepare preliminary assessment reports With the support of the Community Health Manager and Monitoring and Evaluation team, train community health team on utilization of tools and develop new tools where needed Accompany community health team in their activities on a regular basis Conduct monitoring visits to informal settlements and/or community shelters/centers where the community health program is implemented Participate in community health activities including, but not restricted to, health awareness group sessions, home visits and distributions Track indicators and prepare weekly reports on community health program Manage and monitor community-based surveillance system where applicable Minimum Qualifications Academic and professional         i.            Possession of a BS in Nursing of at least three years duration       ii.            License to practice nursing in Lebanon Language and Computer Skills Good command of written and spoken Arabic and English Excellent command of Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint  Desirable Qualifications         i.            Post-graduate certificate in midwifery, public health or related discipline       ii.            Working knowledge in the provision of Maternal and Child Health care     iii.            Previous work with a non-governmental organization “Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Eploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.”
